Essentially, I started my retox last night when a bunch of my friends and I went to City Hollywood Cafe for some wings and fries! Today is the first day of the month in the lunar calendar so my mom and I went out for some vegetarian food. Isn’t it funny that I just finished a week of detox eating all veggie food and I voluntarily chose to eat at a vegetarian restaurant today? You would think that I would want to immediately run out and eat lots of grains and meat products instead. Through the 7-day detox, I’ve been so used to eating vegetables and fruits that I don’t have a huge, huge craving for meat in every meal of my day anymore. Or at least right now. I lost 1 pound after my detox, one inch off my waist, and fat off my butt. I can tell because my pants are SO loose in the back and that my stomach is a little flatter too. I also feel like my stomach capacity has shrunk.
On this visit, we each ordered a bowl of noodles, some spring rolls, and a platter of assorted gluten and bean curd to share. Yum!
This time’s gluten selection tasted more dry than previous visits. I’m not sure why…
These tiny spring rolls were SOOO crispy! They’re perfect for an afternoon snack actually. They’re as crunchy as chips! You can’t taste much stuffing in them.
I love my “dam dam” spicy peanut noodles. The texture of the noodles was thin but firm and the soup base was not too strong. Loved it! I’ve had this before actually. :)
This type of noodle soup is a little more thick and “squishy” than the bowl of noodles I had. The “meat” in this is mock beef and tasted good. The green peas were crunchy.
This restaurant was bustling even at 2 p.m. in the afternoon especially on an important day of the lunar calendar. Their service is always prompt and friendly. Love this vegetarian restaurant!
