My mom and I had a quick lunch here at Yummy Pho a couple of weeks ago. Yummy Pho is situated in the plaza behind First Markham Place and close to A LA Kitchen, among a couple of other restaurants.
We ordered two dishes to share: one Small House Special Beef Noodle in Soup and one rice combo that had Curry Beef Brisket and Lemon Grass Grilled Pork Chop.
We were in a rush that day to go to an appointment so I remember flagging down the server hurriedly so that we could get our orders down to start eating. Luckily, it didn’t take too, too long for the food to arrive.
Here’s the steamed bean sprouts that we asked for (instead of raw):
The bowl of beef noodle in soup had a strong herb flavour to it that I haven’t had in other pho noodle restaurants. The pho was thin and tasted great. The beef balls were sliced in half. Other than the strong herb flavour, the pho was pretty good. However, now that I think about it, $7 for this bowl seems pretty expensive!
The plate of curry beef brisket and lemon grass pork chop were pretty good as well. The rice was just normal white rice that I wish had more curry sauce on the side so as to slather all the rice in it. The curry beef brisket surprisingly wasn’t rough as I thought it would be since it looked that way. The curry also wasn’t strong or spicy at all. The lemon grass grilled pork chop was delicious! It was very well done. 😀
This restaurant is a decent place to go to for pho but not outstanding. It’s average so I wouldn’t write this place off if I was in the area and craved for some pho.
