Tips for Attending Meridian Hall with Kids

We attended “Peppa Pig: My First Concert” at Meridian Hall (Toronto, Canada) in March 2026.  Some tips for families attending the venue with babies and young kids:

  • Meridian Hall stroller parking

Walk towards the Main East Lounge area to park the strollers

There was free stroller parking/storage.  There was a big room left of the main entrance area (Main East Lounge) where you could park your stroller and then retrieve it later after the show.  They gave you a ticket that you have to show them in order to retrieve your stroller.

    • A tip is that if you have jackets or personal items, leave them inside the stroller when you park it and that way you don’t have to take them with you to your seats or pay for coat check (which was $3).

  • The website said you can bring bags or backpacks of a certain size (no larger than 12 inches x 15 inches), but I noticed people bringing bags that were larger than this.  Nobody checked our bags.
  • The website said no drinks allowed (only sealed bottled water), so we didn’t bring the kids’ water bottles with us.  However, I saw other people with kids drinking from their water bottles in their seats.  It must be because it’s a kids’ show and they were more lenient about drinks?
  • Plastic bucket seats

Plastic bucket seats for kids available

There were plastic bucket seats available for kids to sit on so they can be elevated and see the stage clearer.  This was very useful.  There were tons available (stacked up beside the walls near the entrances), so don’t worry about not getting one for your child.

  • The restrooms were downstairs.  Make sure you leave enough time to go down the stairs (and back up) if you have kids since it’s a bit of an extra walk.  [I read the website again and they apparently have washrooms on the main floor too but we didn’t notice them.]

  • "Babes in arms" ticket

    “Babes in arms” ticket

For babies under 1 year old, you don’t need to buy an actual ticket.  You will need a “babes in arms” ticket.  You have to go to the box office 2 hours before showtime to physically get it.  The child will sit in your lap during the show.

    • When we went to the box office for it, the staff asked how old our child was.  Our baby was sleeping in the stroller at this time, so it’s not like the staff got a look at her.

  • We initially wanted to go to the Spaghetti Factory for lunch but the lineup was 45 minutes which we didn’t have time for.  We went to the next door Scotland Yard instead.  Many other families were there too and they also were attending the concert.  The food at Scotland Yard was all right — we ordered from the brunch menu.  It’s not that cheap.
    • My advice is to make a reservation for lunch at the Spaghetti Factory if you plan to eat there when attending a show at Meridian Hall.
  • We parked at the nearby Metro parking garage (35 Church St.) and walked to the theatre (6 minutes).

  • Peppa Pig: My First Concert stage

Peppa Pig: My First Concert stage

The show’s start time was 2 p.m.  I was surprised that they didn’t start right on time.  The show actually started at 2:12 p.m.  There were many latecomers.  I think again because it was a children’s show, they were more lenient than most shows and waited for more people to sit down before starting.  It ended around 3:10 p.m.

  • Peppa Pig: My First Concert

You can see the lady dressed in black moving Peppa Pig around

The actual Peppa Pig and George Pig characters were puppets on a moving box with wheels which actors dressed in black stood behind and moved their arms and jiggled them up and down.  My 5 year old was disappointed that Peppa Pig wasn’t real.

  • Mummy and Daddy Pig were actual actors dressed up as the characters and walked off and on the stage often.  Peppa Pig and George would stay to the side of the stage during certain songs.
  • My husband commented that this made Peppa Pig not seem like the star of the show since she wasn’t able to actually move around.
  • The show is indeed a concert, thus the title “Peppa Pig: my first concert” for kids.  So it’s more about listening to the songs and getting an introduction of the instruments in an orchestra.
  • The female host was very lively and she carried the show.
  • They had a screen with the Peppa Pig cartoon showing parts of the episodes on the back while the orchestra played music.
  • The concert was nicely done for what it’s worth but still expensive for $50 a person (lowest price).  We paid $60 a person for better seats in the mezzanine to be closer to the stage.  They played classic classical pieces and incorporated interaction from the audience by standing up, moving around, and turning up the lights during those segments.
  • "Bing Bong Bing" song

    “Bing Bong Bing” song

The “Bing Bong Bing” song was the only one that was really singable.  The others were more orchestral.  I wish they would have played more fun sing-along songs from the Peppa Pig cartoons.

  • In the last 20 minutes, we could hear kids getting restless, moving around, and more chatter.  Some parents exited the theatre at this time with their kids.
  • The last 10 minutes of the concert was the best because it wrapped up the entire concert by playing bits of each song.  It was an energetic conclusion.
  • All in all, it was a decently memorable experience for my kids and especially my 5 year old.  My youngest was actually the one who had her eyes glued to the stage the entire show.  She was clapping and excited.  We were able to spend time together as a family to enjoy their first concert experience.
  • And ultimately, it was expensive but we wouldn’t have known what it was like until we tried it.  Hopefully, with this review, it will help you determine whether or not to fork out money on the “Peppa Pig: My First Concert” show.
