We happened to be in Woodbridge and decided on That’s Italian Ristorante for lunch. The online reviews for this restaurant looked great. And after all, how can you not choose to enjoy some authentic Italian food when in this part of the city?
We arrived at That’s Italian Ristorante around 11:20 a.m. and were the first ones inside of the restaurant. It was a nice modern restaurant with tablecloths covering the tables and oval-shaped glasses for water. The server who served us was very nice and made our stay a positive one.
They have a PastaLiscious promotion going on at the time of our visit where for $29, you can get an appetizer and dessert with a pasta dish (available for lunch and dinner). It’s a 3-course meal. I haven’t had prix fixe in the longest time! It was a great deal. We ordered two PastaLiscious sets and one pizza to share between the four of us.
[Edit: PastaLiscious available from January 13 to April 17, 2025.]
The complimentary bread was coarse on the outside and soft on the inside. My toddler loved the bread with whipped butter.
The polenta fries and arancini were definitely something I wanted to try. The Fritto starter had a mix of the mini Italian rice balls and polenta fries served with tomato sauce for dipping. The arancini was tasty. The polenta fries were definitely crispy but a lacked a bit of flavour. The tomato sauce seemed to be homemade too as it was fresh-tasting and a bit on the thin side.
The Caesar Salad starter had romaine lettuce, shaved Parmigiano Reggiano, and herbed croutons in a homemade dressing. I loved how big the shaved Parmigiano Reggiano was. The homemade dressing wasn’t very apparent.
The Pappardelle Ai Funghi main had broad noodles tossed in a truffle cream sauce with porcini, Portobello, and cremini mushrooms. This was absolutely delicious and smelled amazing! I haven’t had pappardelle noodles like this before and it was very well mixed with the truffle cream sauce. It was a tad on the salty side though but I enjoyed it immensely.
The Fettuccine Mare E Monte main had homemade tomato cream sauce with Italian porcini mushrooms and sautéed tiger shrimps. The fettuccine noodles were well mixed with the tomato cream sauce and just as delicious as the mushroom pasta dish. The shrimps were very fresh.
We ordered the San Rocco Pizza (they have so many types of pizza to choose from) which was a white pizza with mozzarella, arugula, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, and prosciutto crudo. I liked the thin and crunchy crust of this pizza especially. The big chunks of mozzarella di bufala were a delight. I enjoyed this pizza and how fresh it was! Bites without the prosciutto crudo, it was a very “clean-tasting” pizza. Bites with the salty prosciutto brought it to the next level.
We finished off with the two desserts from the prix fixe menu. The Pasticcini consisted of mini two-bite pastries with assorted fillings. It tasted like chocolate cake on the bottom and a cheesecake on the top. The other one had red velvet. It was really yummy.
The Tartufo was Italian chocolate ice cream around a centre of vanilla covered in a blend of semi-sweet cocoa. This was yummy as well.
We didn’t finish the pizza so the server gave us a small pizza box to bring it home.
This was such a delightful lunch. My favourite were the pastas as they tasted truly authentic.
Their main dining room seats up to 65 people and they have another dining room in the basement for private parties for 30 people. The washroom is downstairs as well. There was plenty of parking available in the plaza.
