Jeon Ju Hyang is a Korean restaurant located in the Markham Town Square plaza at Warden and Highway 7 in Markham. There are two other locations in the Greater Toronto Area too.
This was our second visit to this restaurant but the first time I’m blogging about it. (And actually, we ordered takeout from this restaurant during the pandemic back in 2020 but back then, I thought their prices were astronomical. But now with inflated food prices everything, I actually think their dine-in prices are quite fair.) I really liked the food, prices, and how tasty everything was. The restaurant is clean, service was pleasant, and the workers there seem to be Korean, making the food authentic. There are a moderate number of tables here but if you arrive during peak dinner hours, you may find that there is a bit of a wait as all the tables are occupied.
On this visit, we ordered the Soup Combo for $25.99 which contained a soup, a grilled or fried dish, rice bowl, and side dishes.
The banchan side dishes included their homemade kimchi, spicy cucumber salad, seaweed salad, vermicelli, and an seaweed pancake (I think).
I picked the Gamja Tang (pork bone soup) with Pork Bulgogi. This was a very good pork bone soup (I had it last time too). I picked the spicy version and it was just spicy enough for me but not overwhelming. There were four pieces of pork bones in it and the meat was so tender. The Pork Bulgogi was perfectly stir-fried and seasoned. So tasty! (Best to eat it steaming hot off the grill with white rice.)
The Chicken Noodle had pieces of chicken with egg and vegetables. It was such a hearty and comforting chicken noodle soup. We ordered this dish last time too but it was the beef option instead of chicken (the child ate most of the noodles though). I liked the tender and chewy noodles especially.
The Mackerel was a Korean style seasoned grilled mackerel that was perfectly grilled with a crispy skin and tender flaky pieces of meat underneath. This dish also should be eaten hot off the grill because there is a fishy taste when it gets cold.
I definitely will return back for a third visit and plenty more after this. I enjoy the food and environment and how their menu includes a vast number of core Korean dishes like the seafood pancake, bibimbap, Korean fried chicken, cold buckwheat noodles, ginseng chicken soup, hot pot, and more.
