The surprise bags I got from Too Good To Go in August 2024

You can help save the planet by saving unsold surplus food that will be discarded by purchasing “surprise bags” from participating merchants on the free mobile app called Too Good To Go!  It’s a fun way of discovering new shops you wouldn’t have normally purchased from and it’s usually a great way to get a good deal too.

This is my monthly roundup of the surprise bags that I buy.  I only purchased two bags this month.

(Where there is a clear price tag of the goods, surprise bags that meet or are above the minimum value are marked with a green checkmark and surprise bags that do not meet the minimum value are marked with a red X.  E.g. If a surprise bag costs $7.99, the minimum value of goods received should be $24 worth.)

August 2:

Blooming Cafe Dessert House TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Pick up time:  9:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Assorted baked goods/cake 麵包/蛋糕盲盒:  $7.99 plus tax = $9.03
• Store rating at time of purchase:  4.6/5 (26 reviews)
• Contents:  2 cream filled buns, 1 loaf of fresh bread, 2 Chinese buns (savoury top with cranberry inside, red bean)
• The paper bag the goods came in was beautifully designed.  I thought the bag would have had more than five baked goods.  The bread was very fresh!

August 16:

Ramona’s Cafe TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Ramona’s Cafe
• 7355 Bayview Ave. Unit #1B, Markham
• Pick up time:  8:30 to 9 p.m.
• Baked goods:  $7.99 plus tax = $9.03
• Store rating at time of purchase:  3.9/5 (109 reviews)
• Contents:  2 plain croissants, 1 almond croissant, 1 raspberry scone, 2 chewy chocolate cookies.
• The croissants were fresh and buttery. The chocolate cookies were super sweet but very gooey. A good bag to try the baked goods from this store, but I’m not sure if this bag is worth the estimated $24 value.
