CashWalk is a reliable walking app that pays you for your steps. My mom’s friend was the one who recommended it to us over a year ago. I downloaded it in July 2024 and still use it to this day because it pays fairly well (I log a moderate number of steps and I can get a $5 gift card to Amazon every month). My husband logs more steps than I do and he can redeem a $5 gift card about every 2 to 3 weeks. Since using it for a year, we’ve gotten consistent gift card rewards every month!
(My referral code is: VCU55. Use it to get 500 coins when you join or click this link.)
CashWalk logs your steps where you get a coin for every 10 steps you take. Reaching 2,250 coins is when you can redeem a $5 gift card. There are a multitude of gift card retailers available such as Amazon, Walmart, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Esso, Sephora, Home Depot, and more. We like to redeem the Amazon gift card because we use that retailer the most out of all the options.

Retailers that you can get gift cards for like Amazon, Walmart, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Home Depot, Esso, etc.
On CashWalk, there are seven daily lucky boxes to open every day. You get a free lucky box each day. The other six are earned when you complete up to 7,000 steps. When you open a box, you watch an ad (lasts anywhere from a few seconds to a minute) and you can get a mystery number of coins. You then have the option to watch a second ad to double the coins to add to the total.
The number of coins range from 1 to 8. It used to go up to 10 coins, but they cheapened out within the past year. If you get lucky, you can also get 100 coins or 70 coins (with no option of doubling). Once, the husband got 500 coins in his lucky box! Other very lucky app-users can also get 1,000 coins (you see the rotating names being advertised).
The downside of the app and which turns off people right off the bat is that there is an overlay on your home screen immediately after downloading the app. CashWalk does this to show the number of steps you take and to allow you to click the coins to collect as you walk. I recommended a friend to download CashWalk and she did so but immediately could not deal with the overlay and uninstalled the app. Thus, this is one factor you have to sacrifice.
(And as far as I know, you cannot turn off the screen overlay. Otherwise, you cannot collect the coins.)
The app links to Apple wearable products for step counting but not for Android users. For me, this means I cannot use my FitBit to track my steps for CashWalk. I’d have to hold my phone or have it in my pocket to register the steps.
If you want to try the app for yourself, this is the link to download it.
I also have a referral code: VCU55. When you use my code, you receive 500 coins upon joining!
CashWalk pays well. The more you walk, the faster you can get to your next $5 gift card. Our friend who referred us logs 10,000 steps each day and redeems her gift card every 10 days. That’s $5 for every 10 days — not bad at all.
CashWalk also has games and surveys to complete to earn coins, but I have not tried these yet.
So aside from the obvious benefit that walking has for our daily lives, you can also earn gift cards for walking too! Get paid to walk. 🙂
Update: Soon after I published this blog post, CashWalk updated the app and now in order to get a $5 gift card, you actually have to reach 5,000 coins instead of the previous 2,250!! 😕 In fact, they now want you to reach 10,000 coins first to get $10 in order to unlock the tier for future $5 gift cards. I don’t know they are making it harder to reach our goals. I will still use it and keep it on my phone to attain my gift cards passively though. I hope they push out an update to decrease the number of coins required for redemption!!
