Steak ‘n Shake (Erie, Pennsylvania)

Located at 7791 Peach St. in Pennsylvania

During one of our last pit stops before we crossed the border back in to Canada, we had dinner.  Last year, we stopped around this location for dinner too but I remember some of us had Burger King or food from Walmart.  I know some people came to Steak ‘n Shake but not everyone did.  So when I realized this was same pit stop, I definitely wanted to try this burger joint out. 😀

Steak ‘n Shake was founded in the 1930s in Illinois and prides itself on serving the best burgers and milkshakes, hence the name which refers to steakburgers and hand-dipped milkshakes.  They have many locations all over the states now and it is a franchise.

Steak ‘n Shake!

Looks like a typical diner

All meals under $4!

Walking in, we were all going to do the take-out option.  They are an old-school diner style type of restaurant with the red booths and checkered floors.  We were amazed that their steakburger menu with a side of fries was part of the Under $4 menu.  It was so cheap!

$4 Menus

I chose their Garlic Steakburger with Fries and added just 29 cents in order to change my side of fries into a Parmesan ‘n Herbs Fries.  Catherine ordered the Cajun Fries so we got to share. 🙂

Garlic Double Steakburger. $3.99
-topped with melted American cheese and served on a toasty bun with garlic butter spread and a sprinkle of salt on top. Served with fries.

The Garlic Steakburger smelled so good and garlicy for sure!  The buns were actually garlic buns that reeked of garlic (in a good way!).  There were two moderate slices of steaks in there between the garlic buns.  It is important to note that there are no tomato or lettuce or any form of vegetables in this steakburger.  It was still very good though! 🙂  (The garlic scent lingers after you eat it so make sure you have some mints with you.)

Yum!

The Parmesan Cheese ‘n Herbs Fries were skinny and short for the most part.  They were also very good.  They were soft and kind of melted in your mouth with a subtle Parmesan taste.  Yum!

Seasoned Fries (add 29 cents to any Sandwich ‘n Fries)
-Cajun & Parmesan Cheese ‘n Herbs

The Cajun Fries were a little spicy.  I thought I would like the Cajun Fries better but I actually liked the cheesiness of the Parmesan Cheese ‘n Herbs Fries more.

Maybe next year when we stop by this pit stop again, we can come once more and try some of their other steakburgers! 😀
