Flashfood Purchases in December 2024

Flashfood fridge at Loblaws in Markham

The Flashfood fridge at Loblaws McCowan, Markham

Use the Flashfood app to save 50% or more on unsold food and items at participating grocery stores like No Frills, Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, and more.  It’s my family’s best used app for buying discounted goods!

Here is my monthly wrap-up of what we bought.  In December 2024, we spent $241.23 (!).

Use my referral code KARE4PEFC  to get $5 off your first purchase of $10+. Happy shopping and saving!

To get the most of the app (see the most deals), make sure you check the app multiple times a day.  Stores will upload new items at different times of the day and once an item is gone, there is no trace on it on the app.

December 2:

Rob’s No Frills (Warden/Hwy 7):

D'Italiano whole wheat bread

Bread loaf for $2.11

  • Thick slices bread, 100% whole wheat $2 (original price: $3.99).  Paid $2.11 after 5% service fee and tax.

December 3:

Loblaws Richmond Hill:

lots of frozen fish from loblaws

3 items for $14.75

  • Steelhead trout fillet $4.64 (original price: $9.29),
  • Steelhead trout fillet $4.39 (original price: $8.77),
  • Rainbow trout fillet $4.93 (original price: $9.87).
    • Paid $14.75 for three items after 5% service fee and tax.

 12 bananas from flashfood

12 bananas for $3.17

  • Fruit Box (bananas) $3.  Paid $3.17.

For once, this fruit box is not worth it!  An employee must be skimping on the fruit/produce bags because we almost always get 20 to 30+ bananas in one bag of the same price!  This is ridiculous because you can just buy two bunches of bananas on regular price and it would cost less than $3.17.  I e-mailed Flashfood and they gave me a refund for this order.

December 4:

Loblaws Richmond Hill:

 naturally imperfect avocados

4 bags of avocados for $5.28

  • Fruit Box (4 bags of avocados) $5.  Paid $5.28.

This bag was not worth it at all.  Out of 36 avocados, only 3 were edible (!!).  I’ve never received such a large quantity of poor quality avocados in one fruit box from this location of Loblaws before.  It was atrocious.  It felt like I was just opening one avocado after another just to throw it into the compost.  I reached out to Flashfood and they offered me a refund for this purchase.

The associate working at this Loblaws who is assembling these fruit boxes is really dropping the ball lately.  I am quite disappointed.  (I know Flashfood is meant to sell items nearing their best before date but these fruits were completely moldy and inedible which does not reflect the company’s intention.)

December 6:

Superstore Aurora:

meat and frozen fish and prepared foods from superstore

5 items for $21.43

  • Chicken leg with back attached $2.46 (original price $4.93) x2,
  • Arctic char $4.96 (original price: $9.92),
  • Atlantic ocean perch fillet $3.87 (original price: $7.73),
  • Quinoa chickpea kale salad, club size $9 (original price: $18).
    • Paid $21.43 for five items.

I love shopping at Superstores.  They always have good stuff like ready-to-eat items.  I wish they had a Superstore in Markham or Richmond Hill.

 Flashfood assorted produce box

16 assorted produce for $5.28

  • Mixed Produce Box (3 roma tomatoes, 3 onions, 2 avocados, 4 small apples, 4 large apples) $5.  Paid $5.28.

This isn’t normally what we buy as the $3 produce boxes at our local Loblaws yields more items but we were low on apples and onions at home, so this little purchase helped for now.

December 7:

Superstore Dufferin/Steeles:
