The 8 surprise bags I got in February 2026

You can save money on takeout food and groceries using an app called Too Good To Go. Restaurants and grocery stores will put together a mystery “surprise bag” of items that are close to their “best before” dates and sell it for one third of the retail price. It’s a great way to save money on food and help food from going into the land fill! 🙂

Here is my monthly roundup of the surprise bags I bought in February 2026. I bought 8 this month!

(Where there is a clear price tag of the goods, surprise bags that meet or are above the minimum value are marked with a green checkmark and surprise bags that do not meet the minimum value are marked with a red X. E.g. If a surprise bag costs $9.99, the minimum value of goods received should be $30 worth.)

February 4, 2026:

The husband wanted the surprise bags from Gal’s Sushi again so he braved deep freeze at night to get these. This surprise bag had less salmon head than last time but it had the side dishes included with it. The chicken fried rice is not packed to the brim. It’s all still tasty but the portion seems to be insufficient…

Same as the bag we got last month. I still think the bowl of pork bone soup could have more pork bone in it though.

Amazing!! We eat eggs and drink milk on the daily, so this bag was perfect! I understand why their dairy surprise bag is rated so lowly; it’s because of the passed BB dates.

More carrot cake cookies for my toddler who loves them! Good surprise bags for when you want to supplement your dinner plans.

Disappointing bag that did not reach the minimum value of $18. Pizza was meh. I appreciated they heated it up upon pickup.

I was hoping to get sandwich wraps from their surprise bag as I had often done in the past, so the contents completely threw me off by surprise! Tasty though and this bag has renewed my interest in Whole Foods’ surprise bags again!
