Tonight I went to the Chinese Consulate dinner with the participants and committee members for the DiSCOVER 2013 program. The highlight of the dinner was to meet Deputy Consul General Zhang Meifang and Mon Sheong Foundation First Vice Chair Frank Chau was the gracious one to treat all 40ish of us to a wonderful 10-course dinner at the Dragon Dynasty restaurant in Scarborough Long story short, I applied in January (and got in) to this program in hopes to gain more knowledge about Chinese culture, make new friends, learn to be a community leader, give back to the community, and to get to go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to China! The trip will occur from July 17-31 of this year. Definitely excited. The entire program, including all of the workshops and seminars, spans six months from March to August. Just wanted to use this space to link to some things that I want to save for the future:
Found a Chinese online article of the press release we had on April 3. It’s all in simplified Chinese… which means I can barely read it. They even printed my Chinese name in the simplified form…lol
And the 67-second video of the press release on OMNI News. It’s also in Cantonese. In this one, you can actually see me more clearly towards the last 3 seconds of the video.
The following are the pictures from the consulate dinner. Pictures are truly worth a thousand words. So many talented people in one room; each with their own stories and histories.
This blog is actually going to become sort of like a time capsule/diary. It’s going to capture everything I want to keep track of so that when I look back in 5, 10 years time, I’ll be able to reminisce.
