This was one of the most enjoyable weekends I’ve had in a while :). Best times always include the 4 Fs: Food, friends, family, and fun! New experiences are always added to the mix of fun stuff too. This weekended started off with zumba on Friday with a friend; SO fun! Shaking our hips to LMFAO’s “Shake That Body” and realizing that I have terrible body coordination has never been so fun and invigorating. Korean fried chicken and new food stuffs near K-town. New board game learned with new friends — Lords of Waterdeep. Really good conversation at 2 in the morning. I hate it when conversations resort to superficial stuff like make-up or gossip about people. I love sharing ideas and hearing what other people have to say. Being comfortable and in an environment where everyone’s voice and opinion matters is crucial for someone like me who can be really shy in a group of new people. I showed off my steno machine as well! I love talking about steno and of course seeing the the faces of those that have never seen it before realize how amazing this little machine works makes my job even more lovable. Saturday was the usual bi-weekly Mandarin lesson but this time, we had two people sub in for our usual instructor. All I have to say is that a good instructor, or in this case, two, really make or break a class. Learning a new language, much like steno, is all about repetition and practice. I think it’s totally necessary to have lots of repetition and practice in order to succeed, and this week we did a lot of that. Normally, I look at the clock very often in the two-hour class to see when it would end. But this week’s class flew by like raindrops from a cloud (speaking of which, it was hailing just now. It’s May). Totally enjoyable and fun! They totally need to sub in again. A friend’s birthday pot luck at night! I brought my yummy broccoli salad that everyone loved. I thought I had made enough for there to be leftovers for myself, but the portion was less than I had in mind. I’ll have to make this another time for myself. Lots of good and healthy and colourful food at the pot luck! Probably the most amount of variety and good-choice options in a pot luck I’ve been to. Awesome to see what others made so that I can steal their ideas for future pot lucks too. 😉 Then we played Cranium. It’s a wonderful and fun game. However, I’ve played it far too many times at past parties so it’s getting kind of boring for me. Sunday was family day and also Mother’s Day! Dim sum as usual at the restaurant that we frequently go to — so much so that the servers and managers all recognize my family by name and face. I haven’t had dim sum in almost a month since my Sundays had been full as of late, so it was so nice to enjoy family brunch time again. Visiting my uncle to see his 3 new puppies and trying not to get run over lol. Spending the rest of my Sunday afternoon relaxing and getting some “me” time in. Tonight is Mother’s Day dinner with mom and the rest of the fam. Yay for more yummy food! Can’t complain about anything. Life is great and I’m just so thankful for everything right now. 🙂 New people + new experiences + new food = Memorable. I hope everyone else had a fantastic weekend as well!
