After our little dessert time at Honeymoon Desserts, we went to UCC Coffee Shop to indulge in their dinner time special. For only HKD $40 more, you could get unlimited food from their salad bar if you also order a dinner item set. “Unlimited” food means that you can get a bowl and pile on as much leafy greens or jello or salad bar items as you can. This was something that our friend told us about and we wanted to try.
Good thing we reserved our spot ahead of time on the online app. We barely had to wait for a table when the dinner time set started at 6 p.m. and were actually the first ones to approach the salad bar once we did get started. After that, we noticed that people had to actually wait in long lines for it. So crazy!
I’m not very good at this piling food on to a compact space kind of thing, so I let the more skilled ones do it. Also, I’m not a huge fan of all-you-can-eat nowadays because I don’t think it’s necessarily to gorge yourself on good. Nevertheless, I think we did pretty good with what we did manage to bring by on our two bowls. We noticed that some people were able to pile more food on to their bowls by creating a ‘shield’ with their lettuce leaves on the outer lip of the bowl so that they could fit more food in their bowl.
The stuff we got from the salad bar ranged from tomatoes, mangoes, potato salad, tuna, jello, lettuce, pasta salad, corn, pineapple, and black beans. The jello was huge! It was pretty fresh and there was a range of sauces to dress the salad in as well. I also liked the mangoes and tomatoes.
In terms of the two dinner sets that we ordered, we got the Smoked Salmon Pizza (yum!) and Cuttlefish & Mushroom Risotto (squid-ink sauce).
The Smoked Salmon Pizza was so much smaller than I expected especially when the server brought it to our table. When we cut it up ourselves, it looked a lot better. The pizza crust was as thin as a cracker and just as crunchy and crispy. The smoked salmon wasn’t too salty either. This was a good idea to order.
The other dinner set was the Cuttlefish & Mushroom Risotto covered with squid-ink sauce. This was such a unique dish that it caught my eye immediately. I’m so glad that my dinner mates agreed with me to try this out. Wow! I was impressed! The risotto was so delicious! It was soft and covered fully with black squid-ink sauce. It wasn’t weird at all and tasted good. The cuttlefish and mushrooms were delicious too. I highly recommend this dish if you are to visit this restaurant! 🙂
We ended off with a signature coffee from UCC Coffee Shop. It was pretty good!
This is a casual restaurant located in the ground level of New Town Plaza that not only takes the place of a unit but also has a “garden” eating area in the middle section of the mall. So many people ordered this dinner set in order to take advantage of the salad bar. And when I say take advantage, I really do mean it!

ahh! I could eat here for weeks on end :O
Love salad bars? ;D
I do! not many left here in Vancouver that are any good or not overpriced 🙂
