September 13, 2017: For a quick and speedy meal before we headed to the airport to Changsha, we went to the classic Cafe de Coral (大家樂).
I hadn’t dined in a 大家樂 in a while but the food is standard and affordable. It’s a fast casual restaurant; you order the food from the menu in the front of the restaurant, pay, and receive your order at the counter.
Since it was still breakfast time when we arrived, we ordered two of their breakfast combos.
Sept 11, 2017: Today we went to a classic Hong Kong style cafe for breakfast and lunch called Christy Cafe in Mong Kok (although it also shows up as “Capital Cafe” online..). Since we were staying at a nearby hotel, we actually got 2 free meal vouchers to Christy Cafe. Yay!
We got there today just at 11:55 a.m. which was enough time to enjoy their breakfast (their breakfast hours were from 7 to 12 p.m.). We ordered the traditional breakfast which included macaroni with ham, two eggs and buttered toast, and a Continue reading →
Sept 10, 2017: Amazing lunch today!! I used the OpenRice app to find a good lunch place near our hotel and this place popped up (I also noticed it when we took the minibus the first day here). I also wanted to eat rice in the morning so this was the perfect place to try.
It was called “Mandarin Chicken Rice (Singapore)”. It opened at 11:30 a.m. and we arrived there ten minutes after it opened. It was a relatively large restaurant and of which its seats filled up quickly as more customers came in too after Continue reading →
September 9, 2017: First night arrival in HK and we went to the Chinese restaurant, Regal Terrace, at Regal Riverside Hotel in Sha Tin for dinner (麗豪酒店) with my relatives. It was next to a river and I remember that the last time I came here, we walked here from the MTR station.
I hadn’t previously blogged about this restaurant yet despite being there just last year (probably due to my backlog) but I will do so today. We had 5 dishes. This restaurant was so pricey and the dishes were so small! 😮 After our first two Continue reading →
Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong. October 2016
Wanderlust! It’s important to travel every so often to see the world and capture beautiful memories while on the journey. This photo was taken on the most recent trip I made to Asia which was last autumn in 2016. It just so happens that tomorrow I will be exiting the borders again to go visit our southern neighbours! Perhaps I will take a similar photo when I am there. 🙂 Continue reading →
In January 2012, we were in Hong Kong and we visited the Big Buddha at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island. I was looking through my photos and I’m sure that I visited the Big Buddha in July 2009 when I was there but browsing through my photos, I realize that I didn’t capture any photos of the Big Buddha — it must have been under construction that year otherwise I’m sure I would have seen photos in my album… Continue reading →
Before we headed off to view the fireworks for the National Day of the People’s Republic of China and do some pokemon hunting on October 1, Willa led us to Iron Cow Taiwanese Beef Noodles at Tsim Sha Tsui for some Taiwanese beef noodles. Continue reading →
It was finally time to explore a local foodie shop of my choice!!! All during this trip, I hadn’t had the chance to eat out at a restaurant that I truly wanted to try for the sake of being a foodie. To me, that means that the food is probably highly “instagramable”, the food is trendy, and the restaurant is worth the experience. Thus, when I checked out the local restaurants that were the area we were staying at, Sense Dessert Café popped up and we came here for a late lunch. 🙂 Continue reading →
