This week’s photo challenge is “half-light”. It reminds me of this photo that I took of the sun setting into the horizon just as the day turned from light to dark. There’s not a lot of light here. I took this on the third night at sea on board the Norwegian Getaway as we were just settling into dinner time. You could say that we were also “half-full” as no one is ever starving or famished if they are living in a developed country (since we are so rich in resources) but yet we were also very eager for the start of dinner service. XD
The state of “half-light” is beautiful because you can’t see exactly what is there in the distance but you have to rely on what you know is there. It can also be a very dangerous thing to rely or assume something when it is not. It’s quite contradicting actually! It makes it mysterious and you want to see more. It is also a state that you have a limited time to capture. Once it is gone into the “full” zone, it is not considered “half-light” anymore.
No poems or inspirational lines to quote from a book for this challenge for me. Just a photo. 🙂

I thought everyone was full all the time on a cruise. 🙂 Nice light you caught.

Haha, I guess that was why I said “half-full” ;). We couldn’t have been too full since we were just beginning dinner service, and definitely not “full-full” or else we wouldn’t have strolled into dinner that night 🙂 Thanks Janet!
A very interesting and haunting picture, great work!
Thank you, Eugene! 🙂 “Haunting” is a nice word to use!

I love the sense of infinity in your photograph. Great insight about how we rely on what we think is there. Beautiful light!
Thank you! 🙂
