High Park Cherry Blossoms

This weekend I went to High Park to see cherry blossoms for the very first time!  I went with a group of friends, and since it was the second day that nearly all of the blossoms were out in bloom; it was a weekend; it was perfect 26 degree weather; and perfect sunny skies, the park was literally packed with people.  It was my first time at the park to see these blossoms.  The group of us were driving there, and we had to park away from the actual park since there were too many cars and people there.  The cherry blossoms were gorgeous!  I always thought they were pink in color, but they’re actually white up close.  When you looked up at the trees, it was like a sky of white cotton.  So beautiful.  We were lucky to get to see them since there were out in full bloom.  These blossoms only last for a week or so before they fall, so it’s important to go at the right time or else you’ll just see fallen petals and green leaves on the trees.

Pictures!

Today, just yesterday after I saw them for the first time, I drove out with my mom to look at them again.  I know she’s never seen them before, so I thought it would be great day to go.  The weather today was just as perfect as yesterday’s.  I was surprised when I got there that even though it was only a day’s difference, I already saw that some blossoms had fallen to the ground.  While there were some trees that were still in full bloom, they weren’t as pretty as yesterday.  There were a lot more green seen between the branches.  What a difference a day makes! (Although if you are just looking at the pictures, you can’t really notice a difference lol.)  Also, I drove on the DVP and Gardener Expressway by myself for the very first time today to get to the park.  Hehe.  Personal accomplishment!  I’m not one to drive on the highways very often, so this was a big deal.  I’m sure I can conquer the fast lanes more often from now on; it’s sometimes more of a reason to need to use the highway and more of a mental readiness — much like how steno is mentally involved sometimes when you need to pass a test.  Anyway, here are the pictures from today! 🙂
