Today, I did my first remote CART job from home!! What a dream job to be working from home, getting to steno, learning the ins and outs of Photoshop, camera gears, the intricacies of DSLR cameras, and of course being paid for it all!
I was so nervous when I started the job this morning. I went to the restroom countless times and an hour before the job started, I was adding last-minute entries to my dictionary and making sure that everything was set up properly. When it started, the nerves fell away and it didn’t seem so bad. It was almost like my regular practice when I steno to YouTube videos for fun… except for this there was a live audience watching every stroke I made. An hour, two, three, four, all floated away until I finished seven hours. Woohoo! This was really neat and I can’t wait to do more of it! 🙂

what is CART job?
A CART job is when you use a realtime writing device to capture the words that are spoken from the speaker into text. A CART worker provides the captions that you see on the TV or to a hard-of-hearing student who needs it in a classroom.
