That’s it. I admit defeat. After 7-8 attempts at trying to restore the photos that I “lost” from the third and fourth day of my cruise, I’m done trying — I need to use my SD card again for more food and fun adventures this weekend, so I’m quietly saying good-bye to those 100ish photos that I will never see again. RIP photos.
In other news, here are my top two choices for data recovery programs that you can use to recover any accidentally deleted or lost files from your computer! I still love technology and I am so thankful that it was able to restore 600 pictures that I lost out of the 700. Something is better than nothing!
- Recuva — https://www.piriform.com/recuva
- This was the first program that I used and after a few minutes of installing and working it, I got around 200 of my photos back! I was thrilled!!! It’s a free program and very easy to use. 🙂
2. Zero Assumption Recovery — http://z-a-recovery.com/zar-data-recovery-software.htm
- This was the second program that I used. Not bad, and it actually returned all 600/700 of my photos back into one convenient folder. Yay!
Alas, I will never be able to see those 100 vanished photos because I had overridden them by taking 200 more photos on my 5th and 6th day of my trip. Little did I know that the photos were not transferred properly when I copied and pasted the batch late at night. Lesson learned! And I hope you learn from this blog post to always make sure your photos are backed up securely before deleting them off your SD card! And if, God forbid, that you do end up in an unfortunate situation like I did where your photos are lost, you can try these two data recovery programs to get your files back. Oh, technology!

Ouch, that always hurts.
I know! This has never ever happened to me before! I have now learned to be more careful when copying pictures over from one device to another. 🙂
