Here’s a small highlight of a restaurant that we visited when we spent our Victoria Day weekend at Centre Island (or Ward’s Island specifically). I know, I know… Victoria Day has long passed since it was in the last Monday of May, but I’m still catching up on my backlog of blog posts. :]
Five of us enjoyed the lazy Monday holiday by chatting and relaxing on the beach with some wine and good company. When we got a little hungry, we visited The Island Cafe for some munchies.
It’s an outdoor restaurant with a patio where you order your food and sit down to enjoy. Sarah and I shared a Pulled Pork Sammy. I guess it was a little pricey for $8, but it seemed okay since we split it. The Pulled Pork Sammy unfortunately was very dry, lacked any real pulled pork taste, and it also contained some red cabbage which made it a little weird. Nevertheless, it was able to fill our stomachs for a bit before we took the ferry back to Toronto for some real dinner. I can’t say that this restaurant is truly terrible since we only had one item from it, but considering the fact that the pulled pork sandwiches were already pre-made and all the cashier had to do was heat it up so that the cheese would melt, I can’t say that I had very high expectations for it. Tim ordered a hot dog from it that he said tasted average.
Have you been to Ward’s Island before? (Take the ferry to Ward’s Island if you want to go to Centre Island in the future because it actually leads to the same island! It’s way less crowded than the actual Centre Island ferry). Have you tried The Island Cafe? I really like its name and how we were actually on an island. :3

It’s a shame that the meat wasn’t fresh made, considering it makes a huge difference in taste, but hey I never even knew Toronto had Islands in the vicinity 🙂
Yeah, the sandwich was literally sitting there in the fridge. I saw it at the counter lol. They just heated it up and cut it in half to serve. I didn’t expect much out of it, so what I saw was what I got. And yep, Toronto has islands! Just a short ferry ride away. 🙂
Mmm my last message went poof 🙂 was saying that it’s too bad the pork wasn’t fresh made since it makes a difference in flavor, but hey I didn’t even know Toronto had islands 🙂
Haha, it’s here!! I approve all messages before they appear. Just so you know for the future! 😛
ooooooh! okie sori about the double post then lol 🙂
Nooo worries! Now you know 😉
Yups now I know I better be careful what I say the first time lol 😉
Hahahaha, yes. In case your words don’t match up 😛

I don’t think I’ve ever been to Ward Island! I’ll have to make a trip to go there someday soon! Thanks for this post. 🙂
You’re welcome! Ward’s Island is very peaceful and nice. It was like another world when we stepped off the ferry. I really liked it. 🙂
