Let’s do this more often! Weekday brunch with friends and family. Why is it that we are born to go to school and then work for 40-50 years of our lives and only live for the weekend? Some thoughts for you to consider. Five of us met up just before our day 2 of the Motives training on a Monday afternoon and had brunch at New City Restaurant in Markham.
I have been to New City Restaurant before for brunch and it is a typical Hong Kong style cafe where the service is fast, the food is affordable and good, and you can expect the common Chinese cafe dishes. Their menu is straight forward and while all the guys chose a rice dish this time that came with a soup, I chose one of their all-day breakfast items.
The best thing about Hong Kong style cafes is that their all-day breakfasts are always cheap and tastes good. For only $6.50, I was able to get Combo C which came with Bread with Butter, Beef Brisket Rice Noodle in Soup, and Bacon & Scrambled Eggs. Yum! It came with a drink and I got my typical hot water with lemon.
The rice noodles were pretty good and the beef brisket was just a little bit rough a chewy. It was a very good comfort food dish.
I liked how the bacon was fried perfectly and tasted so good. The scrambled eggs were not bad; my personal preference is runny and really soft scrambled eggs, but HK style cafes always make it into “solid form”.
This is what the other guys got. Their combos came with a soup!
The food arrived quickly and we ate and then chatted for a bit about the future and cars (the guys talked; I listened/played on my phone) before we went for our Motives learning for the afternoon.

Located right next to Blue Ocean Cafe!
