Peking Am Dom. Restaurant Peking. Day 5 lunch in Köln, Germany.
For lunch in Köln, Germany, we decided to go to China Restaurant Peking Am Dom for some traditional Chinese food.
The restaurant is located right across from the Cologne Cathedral so it is not hard to miss (it is also immediately adjacent to McDonald’s, which also meant a highly strong free wifi signal from the fast food joint. Awesome!).
You walk up a flight of stairs to the Chinese restaurant. Inside, there are many Chinese decor like Buddhist figurines and paintings of Beijing. The staff speak Mandarin there and the menus are offered in Chinese as well.
We ordered four dishes to share for lunch: Yeung Chow Fried Rice, Noodle Soup with seafood, Beef with vegetables, and Tofu and Roast Pork in Hot Pot.
The first to arrive was the Yeung Chow Fried Rice. There were a lot of toppings in there like shrimp (so fresh and firm), BBQ pork, and scrambled eggs. The rice was really firm too and everything tied together nicely.
The Noodle Soup with Seafood had fish fillets, shrimp, and squid. The noodles were okay and the soup base a little bland (but no MSG detected). The shrimps were just as crisp and firm as the ones in the fried rice.
The beef with vegetables were a nice clean dish. What I mean by clean is that it was simple and not stir fried or doused in seasoning.
On the other hand, the last dish was full of rich flavour. It was a hot pot with tofu and roast pork. The sauce was heavy with flavour and it made for a perfect sauce to go with white rice.
The white rice was also very firm and delicious.
The lunch was more than fulfilling for the four of us and we were then ready to explore Cologne Cathedral and its surrounding areas after this meal.
The restrooms were free of charge for its current customers but once you left the establishment, you would be charged €1 to enter. Thus, we made sure we visited one more time before we left the restaurant.
China Restaurant Peking Am Dom is a great Chinese restaurant to dine in at for lunch (or dinner) in the Cologne Cathedral area.

This restaurant must have been there for a very long time! The sign name is backwards (right to left, instead of left to right like nowadays).
I’m glad you got to experience so much, Karen!
Hehe, I’m not surprised you would notice something like that Grace! But I mean that in a good way haha. 🙂 Thanks!
