Reducing food waste and saving money with the Too Good To Go app in Toronto, Canada.  Here are all my Too Good To Go hauls in February 2023 (27 surprise bags).  Surprise bags that meet or are above the minimum value are marked with a green checkmark.  Surprise bags that do not meet the minimum value are marked with a red X.

February 1, 2023:

• Contents:  Double leg and rice (Peruvian food).
• 1 delicious still-warm tender chicken legs and rice, 2 sauces.
• Here’s a little secret:  This store posts their surprise bags every Tuesday at 2 p.m.  It took me some popping into the store page frequently on the app to figure this out.  It goes fast too!

February 2, 2023:

Longo’s TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Garlic Spiced Salmon meal kit ($16.99), Mini Rosemary Potatoes ($7.99), Creamy Coleslaw.  ✅
• Really enjoyed this selection of prepared goods.  The salmon was so flaky, fresh, and delicious!

February 3, 2023:

Bake Code TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Roasted Coffee Bun $4.20, Mini Sausage Roll (bag of 3) $5.20, Charcoal Thai Milk Tea Custard Croissant $5.50, Custard Bread $3.90, Ham & Cheese Bread $4.90.  Total value: 23.70 ✅
• Solid bag and assortment of goods.  The Coffee Bun was a new one especially (hard sweet shell with a coffee taste).

February 5, 2023:

Markham Bakery & Cafe TGTG $5.99 surprise bag

• Surprise Bag:  $5.99
• Contents:  2 sausage buns, egg and tuna bun, ham and cheese bun, roll cake ends, egg white roll cake ends, some type of pumpkin flat cake, mini cake squares.
• Love that this store gives different items each time!  The pumpkin flat cake had a chewy texture similar to the Chinese new year rice cakes.  I absolutely adored the mini cake squares!

February 6, 2023:

Daan Go Cake Lab TGTG $5.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  5 character macarons:  Tiger – Salted Caramel, Panda – Roasted Milk Tea, Monkey – Banana Chocolate, Rabbit – Matcha, Koala – Vietnamese Coffee ($4.25 each). ✅
• I swore I wasn’t going to get another Daan Go surprise bag because I knew it was 90% going to be macarons (and I just don’t have that kind of sweet tooth; I’d rather eat cake).  But then I saw the bag pop up on the store and since it had been November 2021 since I last had a bag from them, I was hopeful that maybe the bag contents would be different.  Alas, character macarons it was.  They really do taste great though.

February 7, 2023:

Crust Baking Company TGTG $6.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Carrot cake, 6 poppy seed bagels, sesame seed sourdough bread, 6 Danishes, 1 croissant. ✅
• This was the holy grail of surprise bags and I finally got to try it!  No wonder this place is rated 4.9/5 on the app!  This was a gigantic haul.  The carrot cake was so decadent and rich with so many raisins and nuts baked into it —  delicious.  The croissant was very buttery.  The 6 Danishes were large and so flaky!  The sourdough bread had like hundreds of sesame seeds baked into it.

Pizza Pizza TGTG $5.99 surprise bag

• Pizza Pizza (Warden)

• Pick up time:  4 to 5 p.m.
• Prepared Meals:  $5.99
• Contents:  2 slices that tasted sweet and spicy, 2 slices of pepperoni and mushroom (with some variation between the two).
• It was an interesting combo to try the sweet and spicy slices.  The slices weren’t very fresh though.  Hubs said that the oil they used for the pizza tasted old.  Because of that, I don’t think we’ll be ordering surprise bags from this location again.

February 8, 2023:

Bento Sushi TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Nigiri Combo $12.99, Dynamite Roll $10.99, Pork Dumplings $5.49.  Total value:  $29.47. ✅
• Thrilled with this bag!  It was way over value and the sushi and rolls were so fresh.

February 10, 2023:

Thornhill Kosher Pizza TGTG $9.99 surprise bag

• Surprise Bag:  $9.99
• Contents:  6 slices of frozen pizza (3 slices of a sweet onion pizza, 2 types of mushroom pizza).
• The slices of pizza were frozen upon pickup (kept in their fridge).  After heating up, I really liked the crispy bottom of the pizza and the savory toppings.  Large slices but quite oily.  Not sure if this constitutes a value of $30 though.

Grodzinski Bakery TGTG $4.99 surprise bag

• Pick up time:  2:30 to 3 p.m.
• Baked Goods:  $4.99
• Contents:  2 large cinnamon rolls, 3 poppy seed bagels, Challah bread.
• I love this ratio of mostly regular bread and a little bit of sweets!  The challah bread and bagels, we used for breakfast sandwiches and French toast.

February 14, 2023:

Felix & Norton Cookies TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  24 cookies of assorted flavours! ✅
• I finally nabbed this hard-to-catch bag!  I got really lucky on Valentine’s Day with this because it was clear that they had lots of surplus cookies leftover from this holiday.  After I reserved a bag, there were so many bags available still.
• The cookies were soft and decadent.  It was my first time having cookies from this cookie retailer.  I think we got 2 of most of their flavours.  The lemon one was a standout especially.  They were sweeter than I thought though.

February 18, 2023:

WOW Patisserie TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Assorted Pastries:  $7.99
• Contents:  Half of a Caramel Cake (vanilla sponge and caramel sauce) (regular 6-8 person cake costs $37), 1 red velvet cupcake.
• This was such a fun surprise to get!  I loved the combination of getting a half cake and a cute cupcake.  The cake was a tad dry and starting to get stale.  You can see the cracks in the frosting.  It tasted fine though and I love that this is truly in the spirit of the app.  The cake might not look the best and is starting to dry out, but it’s definitely “too good to go!”

February 19, 2023:

Toronto Yatai TGTG $4.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Tuna Kewpie Mayo Onigirazu $4.99, 1 half of a Thai Chicken Pizza $6 (a whole pizza costs $12).  Total value:  $10.99. ✅
• This was a brand new store to the app.  I saw that they offered onigirazus and matcha donuts, so I was surprised to get a pizza with the order.  The pizza was a little spicy and the onigirazu (sushi sandwich) was all right — a bit dry.  It wasn’t worth the stated $15 value though.

Revitasize TGTG $6.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Warrior Salad ($11.98), Vegan Rice Wraps ($11.98), dressing.  Total value: $23.96. ✅
• We’ve tried these items before.  In fact, this bag is exactly the same as what we received previously.

February 21, 2023:

Longo’s TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Eggplant Parmigiana $22.99, White Sticky Calrose Rice $3.99, Szechuan Vegetable Mix $5.99.  Total value:  $32.97. ✅
• It’s getting more difficult to get those prepared food bags from Longo’s.  The word is out now on how great these are (maybe partially because I’ve been raving about them on Instagram too?).

Bruno’s Fine Foods TGTG $5.99 surprise bag

• Pick up time:  12 to 4 p.m.
• Prepared Foods:  $5.99
• Contents:  Bruno’s own BBQ Spareribs x 3 ($6.99, $7.99, $8.99).  Total value:  $23.97. ✅
• This was an amazing haul!  This was the second time I saw Bruno’s post a prepared foods bag on the app (I unfortunately wasn’t able to get it the first time I saw it).  (And since then, I haven’t seen it again on the app.)  Three great portions of delicious spareribs!  I was so happy with this haul.

February 22, 2023:

FIT MEAL Canada TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Vermicelli, steak, sweet soy sauce, salad.  Tempeh, guacamole, black beans, corn, salad.
• Once again, another fresh, healthy, and tasty meal from Fit Meal Canada.  I hadn’t had tempeh in a long time and this was great.

Toronto Yatai TGTG $3.99 surprise bag

• Pick up time:  11 to 11:59 a.m.
• Surprise Bag:  $3.99
• Contents:  Tuna Kewpie Mayo Onigirazu $4.99, 1 half of a Thai Chicken Pizza $6 (a whole pizza costs $12).  Total value:  $10.99. ✅
• I tried another bag from Toronto Yatai.  I was disappointed to get the exact same bag and again with the half pizza.  From my photo, it’s almost like I got the other half of the Thai Chicken Pizza that I got last time just a few days ago. 🤣 The tuna onigirazi was less dry this time around.
• They lowered the price of the surprise bag from $4.99 to $3.99, so now the value of the bag is actually closer to the advertised value.
• When I picked up the bag, the elderly gentleman who appears to own the shop asked me for my experience about the app and what I had picked up last time (I told him I was surprised to get pizza and wanted to try the matcha donuts).  I could tell he was very passionate about his store and wanted to do well.

February 23, 2023:

• Contents:  Gyunabe Beef Onigirazi ($5.99), Tempura Shrimp rolls ($4.99).  Total value: $10.98. ✅
• My third bag from Toronto Yatai and got something different!  The beef onigirazi was so tasty and the tempura shrimp rolls were so good too.  This was an amazing price for a snack for just $4.

February 24, 2023:

Burukudu Coffee TGTG $13.99 surprise bag

• Assorted Coffee Beans Large:  $13.99
• Contents:  1 bag of freshly roasted beans (Metro medium Papua New Guinea), ceramic cup, coasters, stickers.
• The hubs went to pick up this bag and also received a freshly brewed cup at the store.  He said the owner was very friendly and provided a nice coffee brewing experience for him.

The Dough Cake & Pastry TGTG $4.99 surprise bag

• Pick up time:  10 p.m. to 12 p.m.
• Buns and Baked Goods:  $4.99
• Contents:  2 fried curry beef pastries, chicken sesame bun, cheese bun, red bean paste inside the “abs” buns.
• I loved the humour in the “abs” buns.  These buns were packaged in a paper and plastic bag mixture — different from other Chinese bakeries where their buns are packaged in exclusive plastic bags.  It felt like a novelty to try these buns.

Markham Bakery & Cafe TGTG $5.99 surprise bag

• Pick up time:  2:30 to 7 p.m.
• Surprise Bag:  $5.99
• Contents:  5 Chinese buns, 2 cake roll ends, lotus paste century egg pastry.
• This bag was reserved for a family member actually, but plans changed and we didn’t end up giving it to them so we kept it for ourselves.  I love that this store has such consistent items in their surprise bags.  The new item for me this time was the lotus paste century egg pastry.  It was very flaky and warm after heating it up to eat.

Fruit & Veggie Basket (British Bits ‘n Bobs and Beyond) TGTG $4.99 surprise bag

• Pick up time:  1 to 5 p.m.
• Produce & Snack Items M:  $4.99
• Contents:  1 can of Seville Oranges, 1 can of chocolate custard, 3 plums.
• This was a bad surprise bag.  The two cans of goods were both expired (canned oranges expired in January 2022 and the chocolate custard expired in June 2022!).  The 3 plums tasted fine but were bruised and starting to leak juice.  We ate the plums and gave away the canned goods (luckily someone from FB marketplace took them).

February 25, 2023:

Pizza Pizza TGTG $5.99 surprise bag

• Pick up time:  2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
• Prepared Meals:  $5.99
• Contents:  4 slices:  1 vegetables with a sweet sauce; 2 sausage, mushroom and bacon; 1 pepperoni.
• New store on the app that is so close to me!  This Pizza Pizza is located in the Cachet Centre.  The slices here were smaller in size but fresher in taste than the Warden/Hwy 7 location.  I guess we have a new go-to store for pizzas from now on!

Toronto Yatai TGTG $3.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Crab Meat Mayo Onigirazu $4.99, Sukiyaki Beef Bento $11.80.  Total value:  $16.79. ✅
• My fourth bag from this store!  This was an over-the-top deal!  I finally got to try their bento box too.  The sukiyaki beef and accompanying egg salad tasted so good.

February 28, 2023:

Longo’s TGTG $7.99 surprise bag

• Contents:  Chicken Pad Thai $16.99, Roasted Root Vegetables (yams, parsnips, turnip, carrot, celery root, all roasted with sweet brown sugar and spices) $8.99.  Total value:  $25.98. ✅
• I was very pleased with this bag.  After cooking, the Chicken Pad Thai turned out tastier than I expected.  The Roasted Root Vegetables were yummy too!

Tanuki Restaurant TGTG $6.99 x 2 surprise bags

• Pick up time:  6:15 to 10 p.m.
• 2 Surprise Bags:  $6.99 x2
• Contents:  Chicken Sando (crispy chicken menchi katsu, Nakamura milk bread, aioli slaw, spicy bulldog sauce), Shrimp Yakisoba (stir-fried ramen noodles, cabbage, green onion shrimp).
• The Chicken Sando was so crispy after being heat up.  It was a nice sandwich but which I’m sure would taste better in the restaurant.  The Shrimp Yakisoba was a bigger portion than it looks in the photo and tasted pretty good.
