Hank Daddy’s Barbecue located at 7777 Keele St, Vaughan, ON

It has been a long time since I ate at an American-style barbecue restaurant (the last time being at Adamson Barbecue for a tasting prior to the pandemic).  We found ourselves in the area of Keele and Highway 7 in Vaughan and decided to try Hank Daddy’s Barbecue for dinner on a weekend evening. 

We easily found parking and a table for six at 6 p.m. on a Saturday night.

The entire space was adorned appropriately and I really felt like I was in America for some authentic barbecue meats.  The bar was stocked with plenty of drinks and alcohol but we didn’t have any that night.

For three adults and three kids, we decided to get the “Hank Daddy’s Platter For 2” and the “3 Meat Sample Plate”.  I liked that with what we got, we were able to try all of their meat selections and four of their sides.  It was enough for us to eat and we even had some leftovers to bring home.

Despite the menu mentioning that this was not fast food and it could take a while for the food to come out as everything was slow cooked, the food actually arrived sooner than I expected (less than 10 minutes’ wait).  This was great because everyone was hungry and ready to eat!

The Hank Daddy’s Platter for 2 had pulled pork, beef brisket, wings (Original Barbecue Sauce), ribs, and 2 large sides (we chose cornbread and potato salad).

For the 3 Meat Sample Plate, we picked the original sausage, wings (Carolina Honey Mustard), 1/4 chicken for the three meats, and fries and slaw for the two sides.

The meats were nicely assembled on the large metal tray (and plate) and looked so good.

We were given metal trays with butcher paper on them to share the food on.  I liked that there were tongs as communal utensils to use.  Lots of napkins and wet naps were given too.

All of the meats were really good and the sides as well.  I liked that they gave softs buns for you to eat the pulled pork and brisket with.  The standouts for me were the wings (both kinds), ribs (tender and meaty), and the cornbread (not dry and actually tasted good).  Oh, and the potato salad was generous too.

It was a treat to eat because we rarely have this type of cuisine.

I definitely recommend coming here for some good vibes, meat, and drinks with friends or your family!  It’s the closest things you can get to going to Kansas City just by stepping in a restaurant in Vaughan, Ontario.
