Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant located at 3838 Midland Ave, Scarborough

I believe I’ve been to Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant as a child but I don’t have a solid memory of it.  We celebrated the first day of the new year 2024 and my FIL’s early birthday here with one of their set meals for 8 and some of their dim sum. 

Everything here in this restaurant is Chinese vegetarian, meaning they prepare mock dishes of food with mock meat or soy and vegetables.

We also ordered a vegetarian chow mein, siu mai, shrimp dumplings, and a steamed milk pudding.

Everything tasted great and the portions were good.  The siu mai was teeny tiny and cute.  I liked how the food didn’t feel heavy at all and despite a lot of dishes on the Lazy Susan, we finished everything and didn’t have any leftovers at all.  The food was a bit oily (common for Chinese vegetarian food) but otherwise not salty and I didn’t detect much MSG in it either.

I really liked how accommodating and nice the servers were here.  They changed out a new plastic table covering for us upon the end of the meal (before we took pictures with the cake).
