Roses Senso Café & Bites Restaurant located at 9218 Yonge St, Richmond Hill

We had lunch at Roses Senso Café & Bites Restaurant located at the corner of Yonge Street and 16th in Richmond Hill (9218 Yonge St).  I had overheard about this restaurant from a fellow mom that it was good and since we were going to be in the area, I decided to try it out.

They have a small parking lot, but we easily found a spot.  When entering the restaurant, I was not expecting to see such a beautifully designed and aesthetic cafe!  There was a prominent feature on the wall with the name of the cafe and drooping faux flowers and greenery amidst the blue walls.  It was so nice and pretty!  What a great spot to catch up with friends or have a quiet solitary meal.

They don’t provide hard copy menus; you can scan the QR code on the table to look at the menu.  After this, one of the servers took our order.  Their utensils, plates, condiments (salt and pepper shakers) all matched the flow of the cafe’s look.

We ordered five items to share for our table.  It’s a restaurant that serves Persian breakfast in addition to your regular sandwiches, waffles, and pancakes.

The Mixed Green Salad ($17.49) was so pretty.  It had mixed spring greens, strawberries, blackberries, walnuts, sunflower seeds, and feta cheese.  It came with a balsamic vinegar in a fancy pitcher too.  For the price though, it should have been a much bigger portion.

Adasi

Adasi $9.99

The Adasi was a lentil-potato-onion stew ($9.99) and came with some barbari bread.  The stew was thick, rich, and very hot.  It was hearty good.

Turkish Pizza

Turkish Pizza $21.99

I really liked the Turkish Pizza ($21.99).  I don’t think I’ve ever had Turkish pizza before.  It was like a cheesy flatbread with one slice of sojuk sausage on top of each pre-cut square with mushrooms, black olives, corn, and tomato sauce.  It came with ketchup and some kind of spicy mayo?

Mix Brain and Tongue Omelette

Mix Brain and Tongue Omelette $27.99

One of the unique dishes on the menu which reflect the Persian flair was the Mix Brain and Tongue Omelette ($27.99).  Two eggs were cooked on a skillet with the brain and tongue parts with some mushrooms and crispy onions.  There was also barbari bread served in addition to some cucumbers, tomatoes, pickles, raw onion, and lime.  This omelette was pretty good too — the brain parts tasted mushy but wasn’t totally discernable.  I scooped up the skillet contents to eat on top of the bread.

Lastly, we ordered the Smoked Montrial Roast Beef Sandwich ($17.49).  This was served with a side of potato chips.  There were fried tatters and lots of cheese inside of the roast beef sandwich.

Beautiful restaurant

All in all, this was a nice satisfying lunch in a beautiful setting but on the expensive side of things (we spent more $100 on lunch).  I would love to visit again to try the other offerings on their menu but maybe for a girls’ outing or solo meal.  All of their desserts inside the display cases looked amazing too.

They offer high chairs here but didn’t have a baby changing table inside the washroom.  As well, when we were inside the washroom, my older child commented on how “smelly” it was inside — they had a very strong musky scent inside (like a fragrance but it was way too musky for us).
