Brunch at Eggsmart (Thornhill location)

 Eggsmart Thornhill seating

Located at 8051 Yonge St in Thornhill/Markham

This past weekend, we went to Eggsmart at the 8051 Yonge Street location in Thornhill/Markham for brunch.  I realized I had last been here nine years ago.  The space is basically the same but somehow it looked different too.

Eggsmart seems to have recently revitalized their menu, including new items like a keto breakfast plate and Peruvian Poutine.  We were a table of 8 people on a Sunday afternoon.  The service was friendly.  When we missed a serving of avocado in the cobb salad dish, the server promptly retrieved it for us.  I noticed also that the server made sure that my dish had soft scrambled eggs instead of the regular scrambled eggs that I asked for.  I appreciated this very much (soft scrambled eggs are way better than the regular ones; smoother and moist).

Here’s the newest menu as of October 2024:

Keto Breakfast Plate at Eggsmart

Keto Breakfast Plate $18
-of 2 eggs, 3 strips of double smoked bacon, 2 avocado halves filled with pico de gallo and crumbled feta, a bed of fresh baby spinach, berries, walnuts

I loved my Keto Breakfast Plate which consisted of 2 eggs cooked in any style, 3 strips of double smoked bacon, 2 avocado halves filled with pico de gallo and crumbled feta, a bed of fresh baby spinach, berries, and walnuts for $18.

It was so clean and tasty and I loved the variety of items on my plate.  I gobbled up the soft scrambled eggs so quickly because they were cooked perfectly soft and runny.  The avocado halves were large and it felt so healthy to be eating it (we don’t often buy avocado at home).  The diced green peppers in the pico de gallo had such a big spicy kick to them; I was very taken back by it.  The side of berries and walnuts was such a great thing too.

Classic Benedict

Classic Benedict $14
-2 poached eggs on English muffins, Hollandaise sauce, fresh parsley, home fries, seasonal fruit garnish
+1 for change to bacon

The husband chose the Classic Benedict which had 2 poached eggs on English muffins with smoked ham, Hollandaise sauce, and fresh parsley for $14.  (Also, it’s served with home fries and a seasonal fruit garnish).  He added a dollar to change the ham to bacon instead.  I hadn’t eaten eggs benedict in a long time and this tasted fairly good.

Brunch Cobb Salad from Eggsmart

Brunch Cobb Salad $17
-sliced chicken breast, bacon, tomatoes, black beans, cheddar cheese, green onions, chunky avocado, hard boiled egg, house salad blend, peppercorn ranch dressing

The Brunch Cobb Salad had sliced chicken breast, bacon, tomatoes, black beans, cheddar cheese, green onions, chunky avocado, hard boiled egg, house salad blend, and peppercorn ranch dressing on the side for $17.  This was an extremely clean item to order from the menu.

the Tri-Fecta at Eggsmart

Tri-Fecta $13.50
-2 eggs, 2 Buttermilk Pancakes, 2 double smoked bacon

The Tri-Fecta consisted of 2 eggs cooked in any style, a choice of a Golden Waffle or 2 Buttermilk Pancakes (my child chose the pancakes), and a choice of protein (sausage links, double smoked bacon, turkey bacon, or smoked ham — she chose the bacon) for $13.50.  This was a solid choice too.   In hindsight, after all our dishes arrived, I wish we had chosen something other than the bacon because we all had bacon on our plates lol.

Our other family members ordered the Smoked Salmon Bagel $14, Chicken & Waffle Club Sandwich $15, and the Avocado Lox $18.  I didn’t take photos of their dishes.

All in all, I really enjoyed our visit.  I like the new modernized menu that Eggsmart has now, including their healthy and reinvigorated options.  It makes it exciting to dine in at Eggsmart again.

Right before we headed downtown for the Board Games for Nepal event to raise awareness and funds for the Nepal earthquake relief fund, Herman and I headed to Eggsmart for a western brunch.  I had passed by this location of Eggsmart many times before when I used to frequent this area last year but never went in for a meal.  On this rainy Sunday morning, there were actually a lot of people inside the restaurant and it was a full house at one point.  Who knew that there were so many people frequently this restaurant?

Since Eggsmart is a western breakfast and brunch kind of place, I ordered their Eggs Benedict to try.  I opted for a side salad instead of the regular potatoes side since I didn’t want to load up on carbs — it’s important to get in those 8-10 servings of vegetables per day! 🙂

Herman ordered the waffles with fresh fruit with a side of bacon.  I tried the bacon and it was not bad.

Waffles topped with Fresh Fruit. $8.99

Bacon (4 strips). $2.99

I really liked my Eggs Benedict dish!  I chose ham to go with it.  You could also choose peameal bacon, smoked salmon, Montreal smoked (!), or 6 oz. New York Striploin to go with it.  I liked how the eggs were nicely soft poached and that there was enough Hollandaise sauce to cover everything.  Their Signature Hollandaise sauce was very good too.  It was just the right consistency and taste.  It was very, very good and a solid Eggs Benedict! 🙂

Eggs Benedict with Ham. $8.99
-2 extra large eggs, poached & served on a toasted English muffin, topped with signature Hollandaise sauce. Substituted fries with side salad for $1.99

The side salad contained mostly fresh lettuce with tomatoes, onions, and cucumber.  I chose Balsamic dressing to go with it.

Every so often, I like to indulge in a western breakfast.  This was a great morning of that! 🙂  Eggsmart has many locations around the GTA as it is a franchise.  They have a good amount of selection for breakfast and lunch!

Looking through the menu, I actually really want to try their Signature Scramble Bowls next time.  It sounds so delicious!  Their 4-egg omelettes sound uber delicious too.
