I’ve been on the search for Sichaun food lately (as some of you can already tell in my recent blog posts), so I voyaged to the same plaza where I had the memorable Sichuan meal and tried the restaurant next door. Despite calling themselves a “dumpling house”, they base almost all of their dishes on Sichuan food as well. They feature kung pao chicken, cold noodle dishes, and lots of spicy dishes too. I was hungry for some good comfort food — hot, steamy, meaty, and rice/noodles! 🙂
.
We ordered the lamb dumplings (how can we not when it was advertised so nicely on their menu and also because it’s called a dumpling house too!). These came in a steamed basket with fifteen plump lamb dumplings. Each one was juicy. In fact, it was so juicy that the very first one that I popped into my mouth exploded with the hot soup that was inside the dumpling. It was very good! The lamb meat tasted gamey too. Yum! I gobbled up most of the fifteen dumplings. ^_^
The sweet and sour spareribs with rice was an unexpected good choice. I thought the spareribs would have been mediocre quality and taste, but each piece was perfectly seasoned in sweet and sour sauce. The best part was that each sparerib was either a full bone piece or a boneless piece. It was so easy to eat since the bone slid off easily. So yummy!

Lastly, the Braised Beef Noodle Soup is a well-known Chinese choice. The beef at this restaurant was soft and tasted great! The noodles were also unexpectedly tasty since they were soft but chewy. They weren’t hard at all… like some other restaurants who tend to serve hard noodles. The portion was very generous too! We got 4 or 5 small bowls of noodles out of this.

All in all, I was very impressed with the quality of food at this restaurant. This is another restaurant to try out if you are in the area of Highway 7 and Leslie! 🙂

wow those dumblings look crazily good! We should try out the same dishes from different restaurants to compare the differences 😛 That’d be so much fun!!!
Yes, let’s!!! Also, I hear from a little birdie that I’ll be seeing you tomorrow night at our family gathering? 😉 Is this true!?? *hopeful* 😛
Yummmy! I love dumplings and your description of the lamb dumplings is very tempting! I’ve never had lamb dumplings before!!
Oh, I think it’s a must-try! The moment I spotted it with my eyes on the dumplings menu page, I knew I wanted to get it. 🙂
