Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill is really disappointing. I would suggest going to the other restaurants like Darryl’s which is across the street. When we arrived, we were a huge group of 18 and were told that we wouldn’t be able to get a table for another 45 minutes to an hour. We decided against waiting for that long for a table so some of us decided to get take-out instead since getting take-out means getting the food faster.
After placing our order where the two people at the counter took a really long time to confirm and place our orders, we sat at the side waiting. We were waiting and waiting and waiting for 35 minutes and MORE before we finally received our order. What was worse was that in his haste, the runner actually dropped two containers of soup from the take-out bag on to the floor. We had to wait another 10 minutes to get the containers of soup back. Why does it take 10 minutes to get out more soup from the kitchen?! As if we weren’t waiting enough already. Also, we had all decided to order Pulled Pork Sammies thinking that if we all ordered the same sandwich, the service would be faster. One of us ordered a penne pasta and it was missing from our take-out bag. Good thing we decided to look through the containers before we left the restaurant! We ended up waiting AGAIN for the missing dish. What terrible service!
I’ve never waited for more than 10 minutes for take-out food before. It was ridiculous.
The Pulled Pork Sammy was dry and tasteless. The essence of pulled pork sandwiches lives in the juicy and flavourful pulled pork sauce that should be sandwiched between the meat and bread. This pulled pork sammy was SOO dry. The coleslaw that came with the sandwich tasted okay.
Maybe dining in would be better, but our take-out service definitely belonged in the dumps.
