Wild Wing (Yonge & Finch)

Located at 5505 Yonge St in Toronto

It’s so ironic that right after we hosted and attended a Health and Wellness 101 Presentation that we headed straight bee-lined to our nearest Wild Wing for what else?  Baskets upon baskets of fried chicken wings.  Whee!!

The eleven of us who wanted wings ordered the Cowboy option which included 10 flavours of wingsSince we were a big group, we were split up into a big table with a gap in the middle so we could only try the chicken wing flavours that were on our side of the table.

Our wings! Each one came with celery, carrots, and dip

Dry Cajun — From the Deep South

I personally chose Dry Cajun as I remembered having it before and loving the dry cajun spice on the wings.  Other flavours that we ordered included the Spicy Gar Par, Mango Chipotle, Korean BBQ, Catch Me If You Can (Maple + Extra Hot), and Smokey Mountain which included a teriyaki flavour.

Unfortunately, as good as the Dry Cajun was, I didn’t feel like it was the best I’ve ever had.

On the other hand, I really liked the Spicy Gar Par.  It was covered with some Parmesan and Caesar sauce so that the flavour was very rich and dense.  Yum! 😀

Spicy Gar Par — Gar Par + Hot + Parmesan

The Mango Chiptole wasn’t sweet and I only tasted a little chipotle on it.

Mango Chipotle — Andele! Andele! Arriba! Arriba!

The other one I liked was the Smokey Mountain as it was very flavourful and smokey!  The sauce was very good too.  🙂

Smokey Mountain — Cattlemen’s BBQ + Teriyaki

All in all, this was a great afternoon of wings!  The service was as good as could be for our 10+ group and it was awesome that they were able to split up the bill neatly for us with tax and tip included (it came to only $13.44 for each person!).

One note from me is that I will always prefer eating Asian fried chicken better because the meat inside the chicken wing usually maintains its moisture and juiciness.  Western wings, like the ones made at Wild Wings, are fried and slapped on with sauce so that the flavour is not infused into the chicken meat.  I don’t like this as you barely taste the true seasoning within the chicken.  What I do appreciate from these large chicken wing chains is that they offer a monster-load of flavours and you can try so many flavours at once.  I prefer quality over quantity, however, and that’s why an every-so-often visit to these chicken wing places occur instead of weekly or monthly.  🙂
