It begins! More and more of my friends are heading down the engagement and marriage stages of their lives. I couldn’t be happier for them and can’t wait to share in the beauty of their next chapters of their lives. 🙂
My dear friend Steph, or Sho as we like to call her, organized her engagement party to be hosted at Firkin on Yonge, a lively pub and restaurant. She overtook the entire second floor of this popular restaurant which is located on Yonge Street right across from the Eaton Centre and near Queen Subway Station.
Among the appetizers that were catered that night, like nachos and wings (the wings were deliciously tasty and moist!), Gen and I also shared two appetizers.
But first! I ordered a Butler’s Pale Ale. It arrived in a tall Butlers glass and I enjoyed the light flavour of the beer. Although containing a light taste, it didn’t mean that I didn’t feel tipsy after drinking it for a while!
Their menu consists of the typical pub food like fish and chips and burgers and fries. At Firkin on Yonge, their food carries an Irish theme so we found two appetizers that appeared glaringly British and we tried them!
The Yorkshire Pudding is a small mountain of mashed potatoes with rich gravy and stuffed by a crispy and bready crust. It was toppled with extremely tender morsels of beef! I loved the mashed potatoes and dense gravy and appreciated how the beef was tender and made just right.

Yorkshire Pudding. $8
-Yorkshire pudding stuffed with pot roast, mashed potatoes and smothered in rich Guinness gravy
The Bangerz in a Blanket appetizer arrived as four sausages wrapped with a puff pastry with mustard to dip on the side. I actually really liked this dish since I’m a big fan of breakfast sausages and this was what the sausages tasted to me. It was unique and the strong and pungent mustard tied it all together.
It was a lively and fun environment in which to celebrate an engagement. Happy wedding planning and I can’t wait to be at the wedding, Sho! 🙂

Congrats to your friends! 🙂 🙂
I say thank you on behalf of her! 🙂
Great big cheers! 🙂
