The guys were super hungry so as we approached our gate F32, we stopped by Red Rocket for breakfast/brunch.
Their whole menu was up for selection even though it was before noon so I selected the Chopped Steak Quesadilla. It was the only item on the menu that sounded remotely interesting and satisfying to me that early in the morning.
Katy and Elliot chose the Big Red breakfast which consisted of three omega 3 eggs, peameal, double smoked bacon, potatoes, and toast for $12.
Christian chose the Lemon Thyme Chicken Schnitzel. It looked great with lots of mushrooms on top. I tasted a bite and the mushrooms were delicious! The little bit of chicken schnitzel that I had was overly fried and too hard for my liking.
As for myself, I chose the Chopped Steak Quesadilla. It had smoked cheddar, argula, and shaved red onion. It was a very big portion and worth the $13.
Now, I’m not sure if it was me who did this, but just as I was about to take a knife to the plate, I noticed something long and black sticking out of the quesadilla. Uhhh. It was a piece of short black hair. I’m fairly certain the hair didn’t come from me but I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, so I picked it out, threw it out, and it wasn’t a big deal to me anymore.
The quesadilla was great! It was delicious. However, it tasted more like a flatbread with toppings instead of a quesadilla which should be made with lots more cheese and egg with the toppings sandwiched together and hidden from view. The steak pieces were very prominent as were the arugula. It was a solid dish in any case.
Once we were done, it was perfect timing to board our plane direct to Miami. Yayyyy! 😀
Also, the reason why this restaurant is called Red Rocket is that it plays off the transit system in Toronto which is the TTC and has the slogan of being the red rocket. You can tell this because the restaurant has a red theme and they have posters of popular destinations around Toronto through the eyes and view of a Toronto streetcar. It was a neat concept. 🙂
