Remember when I first blogged about Lucullus Bakery? That one was located at Kennedy and 14th in Markham. There’s another location of Lucullus that somewhat recently opened up at the Cineplex Cinemas Markham & VIP in Markham! This one is specifically called “Lucullus Bakers & Roasters“. It’s located on the outside complex of the theatre so there’s no need for you to go into the Cineplex area first in order to enter this bakery.
This location of Lucullus is ridiculously fancy and nice — kind of like a European style cafe! They have ample chairs and tables for you to dine in and a large space for you to peruse Chinese buns, coffee, and hot goods.
We have been meeting up at this spot for our Round Table breakfasts for two weeks or so. In these two visits, I have tried their classic Steamed Rice Meal Combos (curry chicken rice) and their Seafood Chowder.
.
The curry chicken rice came in the same tin foil container as the other location. This curry chicken rice dish tasted particularly better here for some reason. The rice and chicken were great and the curry sauce was perfect; not too spicy at all. I think the number of chicken pieces were a bit on the cheap side though. Nevertheless, I really liked the curry sauce that infused into the chicken here! Yum!

On the second visit, I had the Seafood Chowder. It came with a bun and on this visit, the lady behind the counter said they had run out of their regular buns so she gave me a raisin bun instead. That works.
The Seafood Chowder isn’t your typical creamy type here, but instead it’s a thin-ish cream soup that contained chunks of potato, veggies, and seafood. There was one piece of fish, one squid, one shrimp, and several mussels XD. Yes, I counted. It’s actually kind of funny. I don’t think this is considered a “chowder”; it was more like a seafood soup because the ingredients just laid within the soup and it wasn’t a creamy one like most chowders are supposed to be. On the bright side, I tried this out and now I know what it’s like.
I haven’t tried the other Chinese buns or baked goods from their bakery section here yet though. Maybe next time! 🙂
Have you been to this location of Lucullus Bakers & Roasters yet? If so, what do you think? 🙂
