Today’s job was a half-day in a new and unfamiliar territory as I had mentioned yesterday. I had arrived supppperrrrr early, almost an hour and a half beforehand not only to get there early but also because I had to be dropped off that early too. ^_~
It was bright and sunny in the early AM and there were very little people in this area of town. I took my time eating breakfast on a bench I happened to find inside the Dominion Square (!) and then waited until 45 minutes before the scheduled time to head into the law firm.
…
Unfortunately, I waited until the lawyer arrived for him to actually let me know that the job had been rescheduled and thus cancelled for today. …
Oh dear.

Thankful for trusty Google maps for providing me with the street view of this place which did look exactly like this!
I called the agency to let them know and it turns out that they had sent me an email about the job cancellation but I had not received it? Hmmm.
In any case, there’s no use crying over spilt milk and I headed my merry way home.
Reschedules and cancellations happen very often in this industry as matters change overnight and a case may not be heard anymore or delayed/postponed/rescheduled. This was definitely not the first time this had happened to me. The unfortunate part in this scenario was that I was actually informed ahead of time about the change in time but just never received the email. What’s wrong with my email?! The other times when cancellations or no-shows legitimately occur, I get paid for the appearance. 8)
In any case, I slept well last night due to lots of nerves from yesterday and was indeed all prepared for today. I even did some practising last night to that fast song I had always had trouble with stenoing. I realized that many of the words I used to drop in the lyric were now steno-able by my faster-moving fingers. Yay! 😀
I do have one more job scheduled later this week. I won’t say anything more until it happens for fear of more unexpected changes. *insert emoji of monkey with hands over mouth*
