A reflection of this week’s court reporting adventures:
Three days. Five jobs. Each so short!! The first four were only 20 minutes or less.
The last one was about an hour and a half plus 15 minutes break. (Still short in relative terms.)
I loved that I was able to leave my equipment there after the second day too just like last week so I wouldn’t have to do so much “lifting and rolling”. 😀 Saved me those actions and since I had had dinner with a friend on Wednesday night too. ^_^
I always say this but I really think my stenoing has been improving. There were straight clean notes for a couple minutes during a closing submissions which I was so proud of (!!).
Things were smooth. 🙂
It was also very interesting this week. There was a swearing speaker who made the transcript so colourful. That was my first time hearing those words colour the page in court, haha.
Like I always say to people, it’s not so much the cases that are interesting (but this week’s were actually quite interesting), but the characters themselves.
You meet so many people in this industry because every day is a different and a new story. It’s actually fascinating.
The only terrifying part is when you are requested to read-back the testimony especially if the notes weren’t clean …
Next week is a bit of a breather where I’ll be working from home on transcripts and scoping for the first time. More stories to indulge in!
