I’ve been to Fran’s Restaurant before, also for dinner right before a musical performance since Fran’s is located right across from Massey Hall and a very short walking distance from the Ed Mirvish Theatre. It had been several years since I had last been there though so I was eager to return and dine here again. 🙂
Fran’s Restaurant is a casual family-style diner restaurant serving Western dishes of all types — sandwiches (coined as ‘Franwiches’), wraps, pasta, all-day breakfast, burgers, steak, salad, soups, and various hot dishes. Their food is nicely portioned, reasonably priced, and decent. Don’t expect anything too fancy here as it’s meant to be a simple diner and eatery.
On this visit, I ordered the Grilled Havarti Cheese & Apple Slices Sandwich/Franwich with a side of Tortilla Chips and Salsa. (You could also choose between fries or homefries.) I’ve been in the habit of attempting to eat less meat lately so this grilled cheese option fit my bill perfectly and sounded so tasty. (I had wanted to opt for the classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich but decided to splurge on the Havarti instead :p.)
Our food arrived very quickly after placing the orders and our server had a fun sense of humour with us.

Grilled Havarti Cheese & Apple Slices ‘Franwich’. $11.49
-Canadian Havarti cheese grilled with crisp Ontario apple slices
I really liked my Grilled Havarti Cheese & Apple Slices ‘Franwich’! The thinly cut Ontario apple slices were fresh and crispy and a good mix to the melted savory cheese. Mmm, I should really order grilled cheese sandwiches more often! 😀
The tortilla chips and salsa were nothing spectacular; just your regular tortilla chips and store-bought salsa. I wish there were more salsa actually as I had more chips than salsa..
Grace got the California Wrap while Yao had an Asian Chicken Salad and Janne ordered a Fish & Chips.

California Wrap. $9.99
-thinly sliced turkey wrapped with avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, cucumber and mayo

Asian Chicken Salad. $13.99
-grilled chicken, seasonal mixed greens, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, onions, cashews, crispy rice noodles, with a ginger dressing
I would return to Fran’s Restaurant. They have so much variety of food that tastes good and reasonably priced. It also felt very homey inside the restaurant.

Sounds yum
It was pretty good 🙂
