In January 2012, we were in Hong Kong and we visited the Big Buddha at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island. I was looking through my photos and I’m sure that I visited the Big Buddha in July 2009 when I was there but browsing through my photos, I realize that I didn’t capture any photos of the Big Buddha — it must have been under construction that year otherwise I’m sure I would have seen photos in my album… Anyway, so I was there in January 2012 with my mom and a family friend. We also hiked around the other way in the vicinity to see a series of sculptures with spiritual writings on them. It was a very foggy and gloomy day as you can see from the photo. Fortunately, it wasn’t raining that day though. Any time that I feel insecure or uncertain about something, thinking back to the Buddha always calms me internally and reminds me that no matter what, there is someone looking over me.
Looking for something?

That is quite a Budda.

Yes, it is one of the five large Buddha statues in China! It is 34 metres (112 ft) tall, weighs over 250 metric tons, and was constructed from 202 bronze pieces. 🙂 [Thanks Wikipedia!]
WOW! Thanks for the info. That really puts it into perspective.

No problem!! Glad you enjoyed the facts :).
I agree. Certainly the largest Buddha I’ve ever seen.
