If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been and how come my blog posts come in bursts and then silence, it’s because I’ve been attending to my other passion in life: steno work! π
In the past 10 days or so, I’ve been buried in audio transcription work. Technically, I had 14 full days to do it but with a wedding attendence taking up the full day on the weekend and then adding two extra reporting days on top of it (because I was too nice), it became super crunch time.
The past 10 days, I churned out 31 hours of audio transcription work plus 3.5 + 2 reporting hours (of which the 3.5 hrs resulted in another transcript) plus a 5 hr scope job.
I’ve never done 40 hrs+ of scoping and transcription in such a short period of time. It’s the first time I made $_,700 with just the 31 hrs of audio jobs.
I’m super happy that I enjoy my work so much. I love working from home. I love working with computers. I love the steno component in general. I love hearing new cases and gaining knowledge in areas I otherwise would never read about specifically (a hospitality/food industry case and a dividends shares case — opposite spectrums in both content and patterns of speech). I love getting better at understanding and comprehending different speech patterns and speakers. I love not having to commute or deal with people sometimes. It’s all me.
I’ve learned that a 10pm to 2am sleep is the idea sleep time for me to maximum my working hours = crunch time. The only problem is the eyes get super tired even though my body can keep going.
I’m so glad I found a profession I enjoy so much.
Through it all, I also came down with a case of shingles.. most likely because of the transcript stress and wedding planning (I’m engaged by the way!!). I’m grateful that I live in a world where I can be treated and given the proper treatment to recover and be able to recover.
Now that I’m “free” for the weekend, it feels weird to turn on the blogging “mode” again. It feels weird to jump back and resume my Italy travel backlog posts. XD
I’m glad you enjoy your profession so much, Karen!
Thanks, Grace! Everyone should find a career they love!
