March 22, 2019: If you are in the neighbouring areas of Brampton, you might want to check out Hurry Curry and Tacorrito, a dual-concept restaurant newly opened near the Toronto airport. On March 22, 23, and 24, 2019, they are doing a buy one get one special!
Thanks to Patrick of @feedmyphone, I was able to stop by this new restaurant after work and try out both the Indian and Mexican food. Hurry Curry is a fast-growing Indian fast-casual restaurant serving all kinds of popular Indian dishes including butter chicken, goat curry, channa masala, garlic naan, and more. Tacorrito’s slogan is “The Best Friend of Burrito” where they combine Mexican elements to have tacos, burritos, and tacorrito bowls, and much more.
The mayor of Brampton even dropped by the grand opening event.
I was able to try out the Meat Thali combo which was a fantastic way to be able to try out a number of their dishes all at once. The Meat Thali dish included any two meat items, a vegetarian curry, rice, naan, raita, and salad. I chose the butter chicken and goat curry for the meat items. I also chose the butter naan.
I really loved the taste of the Butter Chicken! It was so creamy and delicious and the chicken meat was great. The Goat Curry was incredibly tender and not chewy at all. I really enjoyed it. The veg curry that I got had some paneer in it which was soft and delicious too. Most of all, I really liked the basmati rice which went so well with the curries! I also tried raita for the first time; it is a yogurt cooked with vegetables. The portion of butter naan that they gave me was so generous too! There were four large pieces in it.
They also have a Veg Thali where you can choose any three vegetarian curries!
Their Mango Lassi is very thick and had a strong mango taste. It was really good.
From the Tacorrito side, I tried three tacos, their Mexican fries, and the churros. I had a hard shell fish taco, soft shell chicken taco, and soft shell beef taco. There were lots of toppings that you could choose to put on top of the tacos too. I liked the fish taco the most.
(Edit: However, because I couldn’t finish everything and brought the items home, when I heated the leftover tacos to eat the next day, they were actually more delicious! When heated, the soft shell tacos became moist and crispy and formed the best taco shell skin that I’ve had in a long time. It tasted like pure comfort food! When I had the tacos at the restaurant, the taco shells were cold and not very impressive. Perhaps the staff needed to heat up the tacos before serving them?)
The Mexican Fries were very savory and saucy! It’s definitely the kind of thing that I would crave for every so often.
The Churros were dusted with cinnamon sugar, soft, and very gooey in the centre. They were great!
Thank you for the invitation, Patrick! I’m so glad that I got to try Hurry Curry and Tacorrito in one place! I’m looking forward to more visits in the future since I really enjoyed the food here.
