I just saw this status from a steno colleague of mine. She says, “I love having the day off so I can get work done. Happy Friday!”
Uhhh, forgive me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t that just mean that you’re still working? Why are we living in a society where in order to get work done, you still have to work? Why can’t we just enjoy our lives with no work sometimes and not be so stressed?
In the past couple of months, my mindset towards life has changed.
From the moment we are born, we are conditioned to learn to go to school, to get good grades so that we can get into a good job, and then once we find that perfect job (no matter if we really like it or not), we have to stick to it for at least 40-50 years until we can rack up enough money to retire. It’s only after all these working years that we are finally allowed to retire into society and then be able to do what we want.
Why is life like that? By the time we retire, we’ll be in our 60s or 70s and not have any time or energy to travel, explore some crazy adventures, or do what we have wanted to in our youth. Why are our dreams and aspirations delayed like that? While we retire in our old age, we may have all the money in the world, we no longer have the time to use it.
Time. It is something that we only get once. You, the one reading this, just breathed. That one second of breath is now gone and you’ll never get it back again. Time is so precious and we need to make sure we use it wisely NOW.
So, why work so many years and only have limited time left to do what you want? Choose a path where you can use your time NOW and not later to do the things you want. I want to try skydiving NOW… not when I am 60 years old and finally have enough money to do it. I want to explore Europe NOW… not when I am so old that I can’t walk far distances anymore. I want to spend more time with my friends and family NOW… not when we have lost touch with them through too many days of working Monday-Friday. I want to do these things I want NOW instead of delaying them.
Life is too short to wait until you’re retired to achieve your dreams. Do it now.
~~I am so grateful that I have taken an opportunity in life that is helping me solve this problem. I no longer have to work 40+ years of my life or wait until retirement to enjoy the better things in life. I am so thankful for this! #keepgrowing #teamWARRIOR
