For a quick breakfast in the morning, we stopped by Oliver’s Super Sandwiches one day to grab some western-style breakfast. This restaurant has an open concept and where you choose your order from the big display, order and pay at the counter, find your own seating, and your order is then brought to you on a plastic tray by one of the busy runners.
We ordered the Honey Ham & Cheese Croissant with a coffee, and Poached Eggs, Honey Ham, Smoked Salmon on Farmer Bread with Cheese Sauce, and also paired it with a bowl of Fusilli in Tomato & Beef Brisket Soup.
It was a simple breakfast for two and also a quick meal.
The Honey Ham & Cheese Croissant at first looks just like a lump of croissant (mmm, I love croissants! I had so many of them in the morning in Spain 😀 ), but when you cut it in half and turn it on its side, you can see the filling of ham and cheese. I’m not sure what “honey ham” is but it didn’t taste particularly sweet to me. It was a decent breakfast sandwich!
The Poached Eggs, Honey Ham, Smoked Salmon on Farmer Bread with Cheese Sauce was again a very simple dish that I enjoyed. Who can say no to smoked salmon? Not me! Especially when you have two squishy and fresh poached eggs on top of it so that when you poke it with your knife, all the gooey egg yolk pours out on everything on your plate. Yum! This was very good. I kept using my fork to finish up all the melted cheese as well from the plate.
The Fusilli in Tomato & Beef Brisket Soup was a nice add-on to your breakfast that you could get for just HKD $8 — which is like a dollar in Canadian money. Why not? It was a decent tomato soup with some fusilli and not too much beef brisket. You can’t expect too much if this little thing is only around a dollar or so.
The coffee was all right. I’m not a big coffee drinker so I can’t critique this as well as some other people can.
All in all, this is a nice place to have some casual food without too much hype or attention from servers. It’s almost like a much fancier version of a food court.
