Lunching at Whole Foods!

Located at 3997 Hwy 7 in Markham

For this third time of detoxing, Jessica and I went to the Markham location of Whole Foods for lunch.  Even though this location of Whole Foods has opened up for a while now, this was my first time stepping into the fair-trade friendly and eco-friendly supermarket and eatery.

Wow, I was impressed!  Everything inside was neat and organized and reminded me of a chic grocery market.  The first thing I wanted to find besides the salad bar were the washrooms and a very friendly staff member was able to lead me the way.  I also realized they offer free wifi.  I was loving this place already! (By the way, the going to washroom and wifi points do not relate in any way! ;P).

Orderly and respectable

Salad Bar: $2.29 per 100 grams

I was super duper impressed with the salad bar!!  This was not only a paradise for detoxers but also anyone who wanted to stay fit by eating more raw and greenery.  There were four full and long buffet-style counters that offered all types of different salads!  You could choose a take-out box or a plastic green bowl (thereby saving 10 cents) and fill it up with whatever you wanted (salad bar or hot food selection).  They price it by weight; $2.29 per 100 grams.

Salads galore!

My healthy lunch!

I happily browsed each section and filled up my green bowl with a little bit of salad and greens from as many categories as I could. In the end, this is what I got:

It’s a hodgepodge of salads from the salad bar.  I was so happy and satisfied with everything I got.  I even made sure to get a bit of the aptly named “Detox Salad” which I found crunchy, refreshing, and light!

Yum! I loved the steamed beets as well as the variety of salad.

Jessica chose a smaller selection of salad with grilled salmon and a drink.  Yum!

Second weekday lunchtime visit 😀

Everything looks delicious!

I loved this place so much that we came back the following week to dine here for lunch again (yay to Jessica working just 5 minutes from Whole Foods and yay to me having a flexible court reporter and business owner schedule). 🙂

This time, not being on detox anymore, I selected items from the hot food bar.  Everything looked just as amazing and tantalizing and I also arranged my food into a yummy pile.

I was so happy to see scalloped potatoes as I haven’t had these in a long time!  I love scalloped and mashed potatoes! 🙂

Mish mash of yummy and filling food!

I also had some masala chicken and pulled pork and beets and falefel and more.  It was a great dish that satisfied me!  I was also impressed with the pulled pork since the tangy sauce was made perfectly!

I also saw cornbread and bought it to try! It was just okay when I ate it later at home.

I would not hesitate at all to return to eat at Whole Foods again!  Their selection is almost better than that of a restaurant and the quality is so worth it for the price.  Great job, Whole Foods! 🙂
