Sushi Club!

Located at 41 Charles St W in Toronto

One of my favourite sushi spots is Sushi Club!  When I was in university, I frequented this small restaurant on Charles Street in downtown Toronto numerous, numerous times!  It was our go-to spot, especially for my teacher’s college friends and I.  It was close to campus, had delicious rolls and sushi, affordable lunch menus, and was a great intimate hang-out spot for us.  I was so happy to be returning back to have sushi here!  It was even more appropriate as a few of us were reuniting here for a university college reunion dinner too!

Sushi Club is not a big restaurant.  It is a la carte and not only do they have lunch menus, but they also have dinner menus in addition to a big book of other selections of sushi, rolls, and sashimi.  I loved this spot!  It is right across from the Bay Station complex and also close to Okonomi House.  It was a pleasure to return again and to blog about them this time around.

For dinner, I chose the Gold Maki Set as it would include my fav Tempura Shrimp Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and Spicy Unagi Roll.  I was ecstatic to say the least!  The dinner set also included miso soup and side salad.

The server who served us was actually the same one that I remember from many years ago.  Funny that she still worked here and she looked the same too.  Nothing has changed at Sushi Club!

Miso soup & side salad

When the miso soup arrived, I gulped it down, savoring its not too salty soup base and seaweed slices and small tofu cubes.  The salad was also the same as before where they had a substantial amount of lettuce leaves, carrots, and cucumber.

I received my Gold Maki Set not long after and this time around, I feel that the rolls were a little more messily assembled than I remember them being.  Out of the three rolls, I liked the tempura shrimp roll the best.  It was just as tasty as I remembered it!  One of the absolute best things I like about Sushi Club is that their sushi rolls are perfectly sized to go into your mouth.  Not too big and not too small.  The spicy salmon roll actually wasn’t very spicy at all; only a little salty and textured.  The spicy unagi roll was not spicy at all and just average.  After all three rolls, I was stuffed!!

I also got to try a banana roll that Jessica ordered.  I liked how soft and gooey it was. 🙂  She also ordered a teriyaki beef with rice.

All in all, I still love Sushi Roll as it was my favourite spot to hit up sushi back in my university days.  They serve such great tasting and affordable sushi.  How can you say no to this? 🙂
