Big Jack’s Burger Shop [Defunct]

Located at 8384 Woodbine Avenue in Markham

Having a prominent and bright sign in a middle of a busy street still works as effective advertising to catch potential customers’ eyes nowadays.  That’s how I decided on coming to Big Jack’s Burger Shop with Jessica for lunch one day.  I had noticed this long-time burger shop on Woodbine Avenue in Markham for a while and always was curious how they managed to stay in business despite not a lot of word being said about them on the street.  I decided to try it out for lunch.

Walking in on a Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., there were quite a lot of people dining both inside the restaurant and outside where there were several tables.  They serve burgers that contain no preservatives or fillers and are 6 oz. AAA certified Angus burgers that are ground fresh daily on site.

Clean, bright, and efficient service! Very good.

Even though I was in the mood for a chicken burger, I really wanted to try their classic burger, so that’s what I got.  I got it with cheese, tomatoes, pickles, onions, lettuce, relish, ketchup, mustard, BBQ Sauce.  Jess got the same thing and we also shared an order of onion rings.

I wonder if he gets a lot of people photographing his food here as most of his clientele seems to be working and non-foodie

There was a short line-up of people in front of us but it didn’t take more than 5 minutes for our burgers to be freshly made in front of us.  The man assembling the burger noticed me taking a picture of him and was more than happy for me to take a picture of the burger as he presented the finished product for me.

Here’s where I have to start showing immense excitement about Big Jack’s burgers.  WOW!  I don’t often have burgers (even though I have been kind of on a burger frenzy lately), but I was SO, SO impressed with the burger!  First of all, it was a huge burger.  It was topped with lots of fresh ingredients and set with a long wooden pick to ensure it stays upright.  Just look at it!  You can see the fresh, not processed cheese, just sliding out on the burger.  #Nom!

My first bite was more than spectacular.  The burger meat was so soft and so, so tasty and flavourful.  I am not joking when I say that it was truly a fresh burger and one of the best I’ve ever had.  I loved how the meat was SO soft and tender.  Delicious!  The burger was also very juicy because the ingredients were fresh!  It was huge to say the least but I did manage to finish it.

Big, juicy burgers with the best Steak Cut Onion Rings ($4.49).
Just the way burger eating should be!

They have ample parking on their premises

Secondly, I was very impressed with the onion rings as well.  They were big rings that didn’t have too much batter on them and each one was also very crunchy.  Even after staying out in the air for a while, they remained crunchy.  I also loved how tasty they were.  There were favourful as well!

I think I have to new favourite burger joint now!  I’m not even a huge fan of constant burger eating, but if you are, I highly, highly recommend Big Jack’s Burger Shop!
