Times are changing. People don’t just talk to each other on the phone or in person anymore. A lot of it is done through social media. More and more purchases are being done through social networks like Facebook, instagram, twitter, and more. Do you know enough to get you through this current trend?
Tracey and I were honoured to be picked to speak about this topic during the recent Entrepreneurial Seminar last Thursday evening. The 200-300 person event was hosted at the North York Civic Centre in the Council Chambers. This was actually my second time speaking for an event at this location but I was still very excited about it!
The both of us are bloggers and quite active on social media (you can find Tracey at lipstickandmuffingirl.com). We did some prep work and prepared some slides for our segment. Since the topic of social media is so vast, we decided to split it up into two categories: common mistakes that businesses may make when it comes to social media usage and the corresponding tips or tricks that you can use to overcome these mistakes to help your business expand even more.
We had 20 minutes to speak and we showed a 2-minute video that we found on YouTube first to pump up the audience and warm them up to what we were going to talk about. Even though it wasn’t my first time speaking to so many people, I was actually more nervous this time. I think it was because we were collaborating on the talk, it made it harder to judge the audience’s reaction and to regulate my own on-the-fly additions or alterations. Nevertheless, I think we did a great job and I think a lot of people enjoyed our segment! I definitely received a lot more positive feedback this time around too! 🙂
I actually have taken some of my own advice to heart. This includes making sure that I reply to all of my followers on a timely basis (even though it sometimes is tough to get back to everyone, especially e-mails…) and to try out different filters and ways to make my pictures look good. Hmm, this is going to be fun! 🙂
Remember to always learn and be a better person in terms of skill and personality!

You’re amazing, Karen! ❤
Aw thank you Grace <3. It's all because of you! 🙂
