I was honoured to be invited to try out the food at Shamrock Burgers after Mike sent me an invitation over e-mail. Shamrock Burgers has been a burger joint in Ontario since 1970 (that’s over 45 years!) and has three locations in Ontario and one in the states. They specialize in delicious homemade recipes for flame-grilled burgers and onion rings, made fresh to order, with a fun and interactive “rock and roll” experience. They use grass-fed AAA lean ground beef grown in Ontario with a home recipe. I definitely felt how calm and chill it was to step into the Scarborough store on a Tuesday evening and tried out the burgers and food. Mike was thoughtful enough to plan five items for me to try in order for me to have a rounded experience of Shamrock and the food that they serve. I asked for Michelle, the branch manager, and she and her associate took care of me very well.

I brought my mom along with me for the tasting and we sat there in the restaurant while we waited for the fresh burgers and food to be made for us. I was very excited to try what Mike had planned for me! Looking at their menu, they serve many burgers, which come in 4 oz., 6 oz., or 10 oz. They are called “Classic Rock”, “Rock Star”, and “Famous” burgers respectively. You can choose from a variety of toppings that they have that come for free. They also have some additional ones for $1 more. In addition, they have some well-known onion rings, authentic poutine with real Quebec cheese curds, chicken wraps, salads, and more.
I got to try their Rock Star burger, Grilled Chicken Wrap, Onion Rings, Poutine, their Signature Series Double Decker Grilled Cheese 8 oz. gourmet burger, and a Greek Salad. Wow! It was so much food! I was very impressed and felt the generosity of Mike and the restaurant. First off, I tried the onion rings. The onion rings were huge and very crispy and doughy. I really liked it and I felt that it was flavoured really well too. Yum! 😀
I love poutine and this poutine definitely hit the spot. It was full of shiny rich gravy and big gooey Quebec cheese curds. The fries weren’t the most crispy but I really loved how the cheese curds just melted into everything. It was a solid poutine and very delicious! The Grilled Chicken Wrap was a very good sized-portion. Unlike chicken wraps that are small in size, this one was significant! Inside, there was grilled chicken strips, tziziki sauce, lettuce, and tomatoes in what tasted like a whole wheat pita bread. It was actually quite good because the grilled chicken strips were huge! It was very significantly sized. I’m glad that I was sharing a lot of this with my mom because we still had a lot of food to try!
Next up, I tried the Rock Star burger. This was a big one too. With 6 oz.of beef, bacon, Monterey Jack jalapeno cheese, Rock Sauce, and lots of toppings like sauteed mushrooms, crispy onions, fried onions, and the usual works, this was a very good burger. What I actually loved the most was how juicy and seasoned the beef was. It tasted fresh and was very flavourful. I also liked the crispy bacon strips that were in the burger. It was a very good burger!
We then tried the Signature Series Double Decker Grilled Cheese 8 oz. gourmet burger. This was wrapped in paper and put into an styrofoam box. When I unveiled it, it was a massive gourmet burger! All the beef, bacon, and toppings were sandwiches between two fluffy grilled cheese slices of bread. This was even bigger than the Rock Star burger but it was so, so delicious! I loved the two slices of bread with the grilled cheese on it. The beef was again just as delicious as in the Rock Star Burger and the bacon was crispy and thick too. There was just so much flavour in this! We got so much food that we couldn’t finish all of it. We ended up packing most of it home to enjoy. Before we left, we enjoyed the Greek Salad as well. I liked the dressing and how crisp and fresh the lettuce leaves were.
Thank you so much for inviting me to try out your delicious food, Shamrock Burgers! 🙂 If you go, they also have a rewards program where every burger that you buy translates to 1 point. When you accumulate up to 10 points, you get a free Classic Rock Burger!
