Lunch at Moxie’s Grill & Bar in Square One

Located at 100 City Centre Dr #2 in Mississauga (inside Square One Shopping Centre)

Wow, I was so impressed with the food that I had here at Moxie’s!  We all know that a few years ago, chain restaurants like Moxie’s didn’t serve the best tasting or coolest choices of food, or at least for me, their reputation wasn’t very high on the foodie list.  However, Moxie’s has upped their game in terms of the food quality in the last couple of years and I have to say I was so happy and satisfied with what I had here.

It was Jen’s birthday so a number of her closest friends gathered in Mississauga for lunch before going to play at Playdium.  We had a comfortable table with booth and the food arrived timely.

Funnily enough, it was actually my first time to Square One. This mall is so gorgeous inside!

When I saw Chris’s appetizer of wings, I asked him what it was since it looked so good.  He said that he got the appetizer wings but custom ordered it so that instead of saucy wings, the wings were dry and the sauce were put on the side.  His plate of wings looked fantastic so I ordered the same.  I also got another appetizer to complete my noontime meal instead of a full lunch entree.  I got the Sushi Cones! 🙂

The food on everybody’s plates were in great portions and looked fantastic!  The presentation points were definitely high.

Sushi Cones. $13
-tempura shrimp with fresh avocado, nori crisps, pea shoots & sesame chili ponzu for dipping

I got three Sushi Cones on my plate and they looked so good as well!  The Sushi Cones were wrapped with a thin rice paper instead of the usual seaweed that Japanese places serve handrolls with.  The rice paper was so thin and each cone was jam packed with fresh ingredients!  There were sprigs of celery, soft rice, a big juicy and tender shrimp tempura, crunchy cucumbers, and smooth and buttery avocado near the bottom of the cone.  It came with a dipping sauce of soy sauce with sesame seeds.

Wow, I was blown away with how great this tasted.  It was fantastic and the right size to hold in your hand to eat.  It was delicious! ^_^

Chicken Wings. $12.50
-Dry salt & pepper with sauces on the side

The appetizer wings that I got were also very, very good.  I liked that the wings were fried dry but yet it had a bit of salt and pepper seasoning on each one.  The inside of the wings were also moist and tender.  I find it rare to see a western restaurant serve chicken wings the right way since most of them tend to serve it overcooked so that it’s dry instead.  Not in this case!  Each wing was so good and there was a good number of them too!  At least 10 wings (of these 10 wings, there were only a few drumsticks which was amazing).  This wing platter came with a smooth blue cheese dip and a spicy dip.  Yum!  I was loving it!

Here are pictures of what the others got around us.  A picture of the beef dip (lunch combo) with soup:

Lunch Combo: Half Beef Dip + Feature Soup. $11.75

Four of our party attendees actually got the Chipotle Mango Chicken.  It looked amazing!

Chipotle Mango Chicken. $19.75
-free-run chicken with a sweet & smoky dry rub, lemon quinoa, seasoned vegetables, fresh avocado & salsa fresca

Thanks Moxie’s for a great lunch.  I am so impressed with the quality and presentation of the food.  I will have to start going to Moxie’s more now. 🙂

Amazing lunch
