September 5, 2018:  After visiting the Colosseum, it was time for lunch.  We crossed the street and passed by many tourist trap restaurants (as many as we could) before choosing Naumachia Ristorante.  There were many customers dining in at this time and I felt especially lucky to be given a window seat facing the streets!

We went a bit overboard for lunch XD.  We had the Margherita and Capricciosa pizzas, Filetto di Baccala, Proscuitto crudo di Parma Riserva, and orange juice.

orange juice

Spremuta d’arancia. €4
-freshly squeezed orange juice

Proscuitto crudo di Parma Riserva "16 mesi"

Proscuitto crudo di Parma Riserva “16 mesi”. €10
-parma ham reserve “16 months”

The Proscuitto crudo di Parma Riserva “16 mesi” came with a basket of bread.  The proscuitto (parma ham) was sooo soft and delicious.  It wasn’t too salty or chewy at all.

(Proscuitto must be eaten fresh right away otherwise the sunlight or heat in the room will harden and warm it up).

The proscuitto was so thin and delicious!

The Filetto di Baccalà (Cod Fish Fries) was a single fried serving of cod as opposed to “fries”.  This was a good morsel of crispy fried fish that I really enjoyed.  It was fresh and so moist inside the thin crispy battered layer.

Filetto di Baccalà. €3.

So tender and flaky inside

The Margherita Pizza had simply (pomodoro) tomato sauce and mozzarella.  It was so thin crust and soft and chewy.  To be honest, it was all right.  It smelled amazing though and it was a very light and decent pizza.

Margherita Pizza

Margherita Pizza. €6
-tomato sauce, mozzarella

Margherita Pizza

Very thin and barely any crust

The Capricciosa Pizza had mushrooms, olives, artichokes, ham, and egg on top of tomato sauce and mozzarella.  It was a heftier pizza and definitely saucy.

Capricciosa Pizza

Capricciosa Pizza. €8
-tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, olives, artichokes, ham, egg

Capricciosa Pizza

Look at all the ingredients on this slice!

We struggled to finish the pizzas.  It was a huge portion of carbs!  We ended up packing the rest to go.

After our double pizza lunch, we headed to the Roman Forum and surrounding architecture.
