Court reporting is the best career out there!

This screen is annoying when I’m trying to get home early from an early job! But at least I still get to leave early : D

Reason #19 why court reporting/stenography is one of the best jobs out there:  You don’t have to work 9-5 from Monday to Friday; instead, you get to work flexible hours and even take your work home to complete! 😀

That’s me today.  At the time of writing, it is Thursday, February 13 at 2:47 p.m. and I just finished a job this morning.  It was supposed to be on from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., but the hearing concluded within 30 minutes of starting.  Hahaha.  So nice!

I got to leave by 11 a.m. once my silly laptop decided to finish updating everything upon its shutdown and thus hindering me another 15 minutes from home.  I love short days like this.  And it’s cool too because I just received an e-mail that the transcript is going to be ordered.  $$$.  It isn’t much, but at least there’s an order. ^_^ So now until the end of the day (before I head out to tonight’s coring :D), I can sit at home in my comfy PJs, perched in front of my computer while jamming to songs on the radio, and edit this transcript.  What a life. ^_^

  1. Hi there, when you say ‘at least there is an order’, I’m confused, as to why there wouldn’t be. You wouldn’t be typing it if it wasn’t to be ordered, not?
    Thank you much

Hi Tiffany! Thanks for the question and for dropping by my blog. 🙂

Transcripts are not always ordered. A case or hearing will be held because a panel needs to make a decision on a certain matter. In that sense, they do need a court reporter at the scene to record the proceedings. However, the deciding factor of whether they require a transcript to be ordered differs between different cases and hearings. Does that help? If not, I can explain further. 🙂

  2. Lovely post! Any one pursuing a career in Court Reporting would find it very relaxing to read through this post. The freelance court reporter business is booming, and there has been a considerable increase in the stats. Also, court reporter back office support services are surfacing, so if people want to start a court reporting business, that’s feasible too. I recommend CRC National for their services.
