August 18, 2018: Olympus Burger is a Greek mythology-themed burger joint situated in downtown Port Hope that has won several best burger awards including a feature on the “You Gotta Eat Here” TV show. We had actually passed by this restaurant on one of my very first visits to Port Hope and had wanted to stop in to try it, but never had a chance to due to certain circumstances. I was so super excited and looking forward to finally trying this out.
I love that Port Hope Tourism already secured and reserved tables for us at this family friendly restaurant. We were able to speak to the owner before our other friends arrived who told us a wonderful story about how he and his father got started with Olympus Burger in 2013. It was clear that he was so passionate about his products and wanted to share their creations to those who were interested in it.
Normally, you would order the items and pay upfront at the counter, choose a table, and then the items would be brought out to you. On our visit (since it was a special one), we actually ordered our items from our tables and had the items served to us. We ordered several items to share. I was so excited especially because I’ve never seen such unique burgers before. Asides from the beef patties, they even had lamb, chicken, salmon patties, and three types of vegetarian burgers!
We were served ice water in compostible plastic cups (win!). I also absolutely loved that their utensils were of the wooden eco-friendly type!!

Athenian Salad (small). $5.50
-mixed greens, red onions, pear slices, cranberries, walnuts, raspberry vinaigrette dressing
The Athenian Salad had mixed greens, red onions, cranberries, pear slices, walnuts, and was so refreshing!! The cranberries were extra large and in copious amounts all over the salad. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing gave a sweet note to the entire salad. For a small size at $5.50, this was such a great deal!
Ken really enjoyed his Spartan Salad wherein crumbled feta cheese and homemade Olympus oil dressing covered cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and Kalamata olives in an adorable metal bowl. I really liked the look of it. (In fact, all of their trays are metal ones.) It was a savory saucy salad and I loved the feta cheese in it. It definitely was more of a Greek-style salad.

I ordered the enticing Apollo Burger (the second most popular burger to order other than the Zeus Burger). The Apollo Burger had a fresh beef patty, fried egg, peameal bacon, lettuce, tomato, between two grilled aged white cheddar cheese sandwiches (I chose whole grain) with a side of onion rings.
I was a bit afraid that the Apollo Burger would be a heavy burger considering how many meats were in it, but I have to say it wasn’t heavy for me at all!

Their beef patties are marinated (and not just with salt and pepper) which makes it a delicious patty it and of itself. It was so juicy and the entire burger didn’t require any additional condiments to make it delicious (although these are available if you wanted them). All the layers went so well together and the grilled cheese sandwich was delicious. It was seriously one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.
Each bite was flavourful and delicious down to the last mouthful (usually burgers get a bit soggy and heavy towards the last quarter) so considering how good this was from literally beginning to end, I was so impressed with it all.
The Onion Rings were beautiful and deep fried to a golden brown. The exterior was so crispy and crunchy that it reminded me of the texture of a quinoa-coated batter. These were excellent quality onion rings and they also stayed crunchy until the very last one was eaten. They also didn’t taste heavy.
Ken chose the Athena Burger which had a lamb patty (so unique) with roasted red peppers, crumbled feta cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a whole wheat bun. This burger was so good too and the fresh Ontario lamb patty was gamey and firm.

The Olympus Fries accompanied his order of the lamb burger. These were home-cut fries covered with feta cheese and special Olympus sauce. Wow, these were also amazingly delicious fries!! I loved the saucy component of the feta cheese and Olympus sauce against the moist and soft potatoes but where the exterior was crunchy. I loved these. 😀
As you can see, I thoroughly loved and enjoyed every bite of the food at Olympus Burger. The staff provided exceptional service by making sure that we were okay and refilled our water often.
They have a secret menu actually (in which Raymond and Veronica ordered from — the Gaia Burger stuffed blue cheese beef patty is very enticing to me!). You can view the full secret menu on their website. (Their secret menu is not listed anywhere in-store, so you have to look at their website to browse it and then to order from.)
They also have milkshakes in flavours of black cherry cheesecake, strawberry, etc.
I was so thoroughly impressed with the quality of the burgers and food at Olympus Burger! No wonder they won that title from “You Gotta Eat Here” in 2017! 😀 I would be back in a heartbeat to try their other burgers and have those fries again. Maybe even try the poutine too. 😋 (Their prices are so fair and reasonable too!)
Thank you for having us! ^_^
