A quiet weekend

Posted on March 30, 2013 by stenoodie

Sometimes it’s nice to just sit at your computer and surf while munching on snacks.  Not everyone needs to party or socialize with every member of your circle of friends every day, right?  This weekend, I’m going to put in some steno time, organize some blog posts, and just rest.  I’ve had enough travelling this month.  Just feeling happy to stay put for a while. 🙂   Continue reading →

Breakfast burrito

Posted on March 27, 2013 by stenoodie

Mmmm. This morning on the way to work, I stopped by McDonald’s on a whim to pick up two of their breakfast burritos. I haven’t had these in years! So warm and yummy as I remember them to be. Does anyone like these as much as I do? I seriously think these and the Sausage McMuffins are the two best items on the menu. Speaking of McDonald’s, the ones in Hong Kong have fried chicken wings that they call “McWings”. In my honest opinion, I truly think they’re the best wings IN THE WORLD. Continue reading →

Jet lag still has its hold on me; I’ve been waking up at 4:30 a.m. — WIDE awake — for the past several mornings. Hello, world! 🙂

Jet lag

Posted on March 23, 2013 by stenoodie

This is the third night where I’ve passed out slept after dinner time and woke up at 9 p.m. I don’t think I’m adjusting well to Toronto time at all. Maybe I should just go back to Hong Kong again. That’s been on my mind A LOT recently…

First time attending the NCRA Annual Convention in Philadelphia

Meeting Jade, Steno Blogger and Court Reporter

Posted on March 22, 2013 by stenoodie

This is a reflection piece I wrote for my court reporting school last year on February 8, 2012.  The same piece is also located on my school’s blog: http://verbatimstudies.com/wp/?p=58

This winter holiday, I traveled to Hong Kong to visit my relatives. I also took this opportunity to visit Jade King, a realtime court reporter who works at the Hong Kong High Court and International Arbitration Centre.

Jade has worked in captioning, CART, and the courts in Australia, and recently moved to Hong Kong to further her job aspirations. I first learned about Jade when a fellow CCVS classmate posted the link to her blog on the forums about six months ago. Continue reading →

Back in Toronto!

Posted on March 21, 2013 by stenoodie

Hello minus 6 degrees weather in Toronto!  I arrived back home last night after a 14-hour flight from Hong Kong.  For the first time since arriving home — I usually visit Hong Kong every one or two years — I want to be back there.  I want to be back in that bustling city full of life where you don’t need a car to get to places — you can just go downstairs and walk or take the super convenient MTR.   Continue reading →
